Hello ! Great vidéo, do you recommand to upgrade to a paf7?
@CT79chroma4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jeremy! That's always very personal preference what works for you and to what kind of tones you are aiming to. In my case PAF7 has been "the perfect" pickup. I have PAF7's in all 3 of my 7 string Ibanez guitars and they deliver all the different kind of tones I need. From cleans to lo-gain and hi-gain tones. For RG7321 PAF7's were definitely an upgrade and they brought a lot of tonal variety and dynamics how the guitar responds to my playing.

Listening with closed eyes with a quite good installation, I could not find the difference for bridge PU. Slight better in clean tone for the PAF. to my humble hears.

@@benwatts1333 i have the two pickups. In reality they sound VERY differents. The ibanez sound harsh. The PAF is good, but old technology.. the SH6 - 7 is the best pickup i've ever heard. Go for it he is better than the PAF

Thanks for doing this man sounds sick. Just put a paf7 in my Ibanez rgd7 in low A he’ll sick, Got the exact same guitar and was gonna put a Dimarzio super distortion 7 in but wondering if you have tried it and should I bother or just get another paf7 it’s seems unbeatable for low shit?

Thanks Eddie! I thought that this video might be helpful to fellow guitarists that try to decide which pickup to go to. :) I also have RGD7UC and it has BKP Aftermaths - they are good but all the time wondering if PAF7 would suit my needs better. I have that guitar tuned to F# and Aftermaths are nice but I would need a way to split them by times so maybe I ask someone to install push/pull pot to it! With PAF7 you cant go wrong! 😁 I haven't tried super distortion unfortunately so can't comment it. 😟

Yes they do! PAF7 is certainly my favorite pickup! Now I also have 7 string RGD7 uppercut - it has Bareknuckle Aftermaths. To me they don't work as nicely as PAF7's.

ah2 b has more low end than paf7
@CT79chroma2 жыл бұрын
Yes it does, but it is also more muddy and not as ”controlled” sounding. AH is also much more saturated which is not necessarily a bad thing but PAF7 works better to my use cases.

@@CT79chroma EQ is the way
@CT79chroma2 жыл бұрын
@@_pant0m EQ is way to modify the outcome sound but I prefer that the pickup itself is as close as possible to what I am after without needing to use EQ to get there. Pickup is also essential on how the guitar feels and reacts to your playing - that of course can’t be demo’d on video and is personal experience for each guitar player.

@@chocolatecookie8571 I agree! What’s your favorite pickup?
@chocolatecookie85713 ай бұрын
@@CT79chroma In this video I liked the PAF7 more than the stock pickups. In my past guitar life I had all kinds of guitars with different pickups. If I would choose a pickup for a 7 string then probably the Dimarzio PAF or maybe the Seymour Duncan 59 which is PAF design also according to SD. But I would stick to passive pickups and not too hot.
@CT79chroma3 ай бұрын
@@chocolatecookie8571 I also have had a lot of different pickups and I am definitely a passive pickups guy. PAF7 is easily my favorite pickup for 7 string as it is super versatile. At the moment I have 3 guitars (Ibanez RG's) with PAF7's and one Ibanez RGD that has BKP Aftermath. Aftermath is also a good pickup but I prefer PAF7 more. Maybe Aftermath works better on super low stuff than PAF7. Haven't tested though - my PAF7 guitars are tuned to A standard. That RGD is tuned to F# so basically it has 8 string guitar tuning even though it is a 7 string.
