The host in this show went from “Head of the Class” to head of Paramount Pictures. Meanwhile, there is a syndicated version (not the first one) of “Pictionary” in its current run.

Well, FIRST, he went on to produce shows for Nickelodeon LONG BEFORE he became president of Paramount Pictures (AND Nickelodeon). And since Nickelodeon has been a sister company to Paramount for the previous three decades... it was pretty much a shoo-in for him to get the job.

Interesting to see one of the people behind All That, Kenan & Kel, and other Nickelodeon shows (and he’s the current President of Nickelodeon) hosting this. Also, neat to see Earl Boen on a game show. He gave a good performance as the judge. The bonus round reminds me of the Prize Vault of 1985’s Break the Bank.

Earl Boen was the man, SPB84Fanatic. RIP, Earl.

Brian Robbins is better than we give him credit for.

Thanks for posting I remember him from Head of the Class this would air after Fun House too bad it didn't last that long!

Hey, it's the guy currently running Nickelodeon hosting!

That’s a world class mullet on the host. Needless to say, they can’t all be winners unfortunately.

@1:32, it's Father Silvano, of the Golden Girls, the "What, can we say about Philip Petrilo" Judge, who appeared on the Final episode, which Dorothy/Lucas get married.

Wink, help me out here. Was that Earl Boen playing Judge Mental in this pilot?

I'm not Wink, but it sure is him!

That is Earl Boen.

Indeed, it was, but ONLY for this pilot. Rick Zumwalt took that job for the actual run of the show.
@jordanhass10 ай бұрын
Wow, is that the head of Viacom CBS and Director of the Good Burger movie himself, Brian Robbins?
@viddykiddy1810 ай бұрын
Correct-o-mundo!
@DLCOrganization9 ай бұрын
Nope, that is the head of Paramount Pictures, the head of Nickelodeon, and director of the movie _"Good Burger",_ Brian Robbins. Also, ViacomCBS is now Paramount Global as of 2022.

I can definitely hear John Cramer as announcer here-- he'd be replaced by Harry Stevens when it went to series.

Hate to be a Mr. Debbie Downer, but even though it was no better I definitely prefer the series shows.

Dude... This pilot *_IS FROM_* the 1989 version, which is the ORIGINAL _Pictionary_ game show incarnation. This must be your first time seeing this game show PERIOD.

The late Earl Boen as the judge. This guy got so much work!

And this was before the 90s Thicke version and the current one with O Connell.

Yes, it was a short-lived show that came on the summer of '89.

I would've loved this as a child. Would've fit right in with shows like Double Dare and Fun House at the time.
@Quartzquiz3339 ай бұрын
In my market, all three shows aired back-to-back-to-back. Double Dare came on at 5PM, Fun House at 5:30PM and Pictionary at 6PM.

Did they really need a judge and Felicia? I only saw the first few minutes of this and I'm about ready to say, "This pilot sucks!" I'm sorry but that's how I feel.

Felicity was let go halfway during the show's run.

Would be pretty wild (but great) if we can get some episodes from the 1989 series that went to air. There's been the same one and a half episodes that have circulated on the trading circuit for the last 25 years.

Wink, we appreciate all of the exhibits you have shown on this channel, good, bad, and otherwise. Be that as it may, an episode of Teen Win, Lose or Draw sounds more appealing (and much more fun) than this. Maybe it's me, but ever since Jack Barry passed away and a huge chunk of Barry And Enright's staff defected and started Kline And Friends, it seems that the quality of Barry And Enright's game shows have gone downhill, and Pictionary was just the start of it. Pictionary and Teen Win, Lose Or Draw's objectives were simple enough...guess words from drawings, but that's where the similarities end. While Teen Win, Lose Or Draw succeeded in keeping their game format simple by using as few gimmicks as necessary, Pictionary was trying too hard to compete with shows like Double Dare and Fun House by adding messy stunts to the game as if that's the only way to appeal to kids, especially those with a collective attention span of a cotton swab. Though Earl Boen's role as the judge, and a then-unknown John Cramer as announcer gave this pilot *some* gravitas, they do not a good kids' game show make. Oh well. At least, Brian Robbins is smiling all the way to the bank at Paramount. I wonder whatever happened to Felicity?

Another Dan Enright game show without Jack Barry. I think Enright was a bad producer without Barry. Barry was the creative genius.
