I watched your Q&A yesterday. What I heard was a Young Lady who never blames others and fully takes Responsibility. So many need to hear this, need to understand so that they also can Change, make amends and come out healthier and stronger. I’m not an an Addict but a child of 1 with addictive personality. At 15 I had my 1st baby and while alone for those 1st 3 days I made so many promises, some I very much kept and others I repeated without even knowing. Something happened at 40 and my entire life HAD to change. In an instant I realized I was the common denominator in it all. I stopped trying to fix others but Fix Me. I take accountability and apologize to my kids still to this day. Do I need to , for me yes so that my kids understand none of us are perfect, we make mistakes and when needed we step up. At 59 I’m still healing from a childhood I didn’t cause and wasn’t my fault but believed I wasn’t worth anything. How I got Blessed with 4 kids never involved in bad habits, are all employed in Careers they thrive in and have their own kids with whom they made better choices than Momma did and I Thank God each day

I’m proud of you for recognizing what you needed to work! My whole life, I’ve been deeply connected to people & their emotions & not always by choice. I’ve spent so long giving people pieces of myself & basing my self worth & happiness on where or not I could make them happy because I’ve always wanted to help people/make them happy & I’ve felt that if I can’t do those things then I don’t deserve to give myself those things either. So, I’ve never cared about or loved myself to do the inner work that I need to. But now, my trauma & damage is affecting my kids & husband & I won’t have that. So, I’m trying to learn to love myself & I am learning to work through my emotions, through situations, and through my trauma while also building coping mechanisms to handle things in a healthy way. I’m also teaching my son to do the same things & I will teach my daughter as well when she is old enough. I may not be able to prevent them from dealing with *some* of the things I dealt with as those things are out of our control but there are many things I dealt with that I *can* prevent them from dealing with & I will do whatever I can to prevent them from having the pain & trauma their mom has. Here’s to making the generations behind us happier, healthier, and better people. ❤ You go, momma! ❤
