Congratulation on your success for propagating the vanilla! I look forward to see them bloom and production of the vanilla pod. I love your tree with all sorts of stuff mounted on it, it looks very natural. Thanks for sharing your wonderful garden.

Thanks so much!!! I am over the moon happy to see t these come back to life! WHEEEEEEEEEW! ...and I am hoping that I can successfully pollinate them and get some seed pods. I did make the attempt with the flowers that did bloom...but man it is a lot more difficult than I thought...I was not successfully with any of them. :( My mounting projects turned out way better than I thought they would...and I am so surprised to see how well the phals have been doing mounted. I had one that originally had yellow leaves and they continued to yellow further but are growing new leaves and healthy roots, so the yellow leaves will just die off and hopefully the phal will continue to grow healthy. Other than that all of the mounts have surpassed my expectations including the new ferns that I have added to the tree mounting collection! YAAAAAAAY! Thanks for following me throughout my adventures and watching the incredible transformations with me. I am one that always likes to prove that it can be done and yes If I can do it...you definitely can do it! LOL! HAPPY GROWING DEAR FRIEND! Thanks for your friendship and your support! Much love and big hugs to you!

Good to see this i have two i been trying to grow and its been about a month and nothing some one told me it was dead but i didn't think so and you confirm that if its still green then its alive and 9 months long time but now i know thanks
@Bruno7G2 жыл бұрын
It can take up to 6 months for it to root if you do it at the wrong time. You just gotta make sure to not over water it. I've had good success with bark and coconut husk. Mine just took root after about 5 months.

Thank you and someone brought it to my attention that they grow quicker if you root them in water...so I am defiantly going to give it a try and see.

That's awesome!! I do hope you find one. They are so awesome and very interesting orchids! Best of luck and HAPPY GROWING!

orchids can endure much lower temps that are stated in AOS guidlines. However, i do not recommend subjecting them to freezing temps but many can withstand the low 30's and survive just fine n dandy. Looks good. All of the cuttings you sent are doing very well even though i have had three days rain in three months. Very odd, this time of year should be raining almost every day.

My big one did sustain some cold damage earlier this year and concern me because it did leave brown bruising. I thought that they would rot out but fortunately they didn't but they do show the battle scars of their bout with the cold. WOW ONLY 3 DAYS IN 3 MONTHS!!! It started out that way over here too...and we were having drought weather for about a month or so...but then the windows of heaven opened up and it has been pouring that catts and dendrobiums. I am starting to get a little worried but I am glad that most of my orchids are bare rooted or mounted so majority should hold up well...fingers crossed at least!

Yes I do have to do an update very soon before I miss all of the blooms...I've been a scatter brain as of late and I just don't know where to start. But I will get to it...and you say that you miss me? Well whatever do you mean? I've been making sure I set aside time to make videos even though my grandson and my dog have been consuming most of my time, but I haven't gone anywhere. I'm still here! LOL!

I got mine to root pretty fast by placing a cutting in a cup of water in a warm sunny place it worked for me better than in sphagnum moss
@PictureMaria15 жыл бұрын
That’s awesome! Did you allow the wounds to dry first or did you put it directly into a cup of water? I am going to have to give it a try. Thanks for sharing your experience. Happy growing!
@kevinhensch93425 жыл бұрын
MY Orchid Adventures It was already an older cutting wound was healed Already Because the attempts before with the moss weren’t successful so basically out of despair i put it in water and that helped it root pretty quickly
@PictureMaria15 жыл бұрын
@@kevinhensch9342 Okay so it still needed the wound to be completely dried out...but you did notice a speedy response in growth. It may be a better way of doing it...I am definitely going to give it a try with the cutting that broke off the mama plant in this video. Thanks for sharing! :)
@kevinhensch93425 жыл бұрын
MY Orchid Adventures yes I indeed did grow much better and faster for me especially because I had issues growing it in germany in winter the weather didn’t help and In sphagnum it always refused to root for me no matter the season :/ and then I tried another one and that one grew actually in the water cup even tough it wasn’t the most sunny weather and also not warm so I really think the glass cup did the trick and you’re welcome I hope it will work for you too Maria I’m crossing all my fingers for you and rooting for your vanillas to root :)

Nice Vanilla! Do you know of a good vendor? I only find tiny propagations on eBay, $6 bucks, but $20 shipping each. I can't wait to watch you pollinate them♥
@PictureMaria15 жыл бұрын
Thank you and I actually do not know of a good vendor that sells these. It can cost a bit for shipping if you are ordering from a location that is quite a distance from you. Try finding a vendor closer to you and perhaps purchase some cuttings. That would make it much lighter on the shipment. I do hope you get one soon...they are a nice addition to any orchid collection.

THAT'S AWESOME!!! ...and congratulations to your newest or-kid family member!!! I am so happy that they survived and are doing well! I was actually starting to worry so this was such a BIG sigh of relief for me! WHEEEEEEEEEW! ...and the media that I used in the pot was a mixture of soil, bark, coal and perlite.

Oh sure, propagate, no problem. But what about pollinating? You're probably gonna do it by hand. Why don't you take an epic trip to Mexico to get a Melipona bee to do it for you?
