In this video, I introduce the topic of PID control. This is a short introduction design to prepare you for the next few lectures where I will go through several examples of PID control. This video explains why we need feedback control and how PID controller are simple and efficient ways to ensure you have a feed back system that meets your requirements.
I will be loading a new video each week and welcome suggestions for new topics. Please leave a comment or question below and I will do my best to address it. Thanks for watching!

This is the single best explanation of PID control I have ever come across since I was first exposed to it 4 years ago. Often times as engineers, we get math equations thrown at us, but the intuition behind that math is lacking. This video is perfect for developing an intuitive understanding of those concepts.

Great lecture! I have two questions concerning the paths (4:09) thought: 1. Why is it only k_p and not k_p*s on the proportional path? 2. How comes you multiply the k_i with 1/s and not f.ex. s on the integral path?

PaJo GaMo 1.Kp. is a linear function not a exponential function. So we do not multiply anything to it 2. Ki times integral of e^st is simply Ki * 1/s 3. Kd times derivative of e^st is simply Kd * s
