Awesome, actually started your videos and got a micro 820 to kind of follow along, didn't realize you actually went into depth with that too. I'm slowly coming up to speed with RX Logix 5000 at work, but have the 820 as a training/hobbyist PLC at home.

You can learn a lot with the Micro800. I like that it does ladder logic, function blocks, and structured text on the most basic model with the free software.

Hi Tim! I have been trying to test PID control on my project and ran across a problem when trying to set my physical outputs from within connected components. It give an error message no details as to why. My controller is connected and in run mode. Your PID series is massively useful for my final year project. Honestly saved me weeks of struggling down to a few evenings after my day job and what is more I am actually grasping the theory behind all the lectures that seemed so pointless. Really thank you for posting all this content!

This is the message I get "An error occurred while writing to :Controller.Micro850.Micro850._IO_EM_DO_08." there is nothing in the fault logs. I have also tried it in programing mode and the monitoring mode.

The PID will be expecting an analog for the output, I'm guessing you are wanting to pulse something?

@@TimWilborne ah I should have mentioned, I am trying to send a digital signal from connected components to initiate a process that will eventually activate the PID control loop. I simplified my program and tried to turn on an output from connected components and it gave the same error.
