As a child of 11, I watched my mother be devastated by the loss of my two month old brother. At the time I couldn't imagine why she was so torn apart. In my mind, he wasn't here that long, how could she just lose herself and abandon her two living children. When I was 20 and gave birth to my first son, the moment he came into the world, I remembered my mother..I completely understood. I was so utterly in love, that love begins before they are here but in that millisecond you see them, you can not imagine life without them. My heart breaks for any woman or man that has gone through this loss. They are part of you, your essence as a being, it doesn't matter if they are born with life..they will always be your child. xoxo

Sorry to break it to you but he wasn't involved in the making of this film. He came on after he watched it and lends his name to market the film as an exec. producer. Scorsese commented: “It’s lucky to see a movie that takes you by surprise. It’s a privilege to help it find the wide audience it deserves. Pieces Of A Woman for me was a deep and uniquely moving experience. I was emotionally invested in it from the first scene, and the experience only intensified as I watched, spellbound by the filmmaking and the work of a splendid cast that includes my old colleague Ellen Burstyn. You feel as if you’ve been dropped into the vortex of a family crisis and moral conflict with all its nuances, drawn out with care and compassion but without judgement. Kornél Mundruczó has a fluid, immersive style with the camera that makes it hard to look away, and impossible not to care.” Mundruczó added: “When I first was contacted by Martin Scorsese after he saw Pieces Of A Woman, time stopped for a second. It is an utter privilege that someone, who has seen and experienced filmmaking inside and out appreciates what we’ve created. One always feels more vulnerable with intimate and “close to your heart” materials, but Martin Scorsese joining Pieces Of A Woman, on top of an already fantastic cast and crew, is a deeply appreciated validation of the risks one takes when going forward to make something truly personal.”

We generally try to keep our grief to ourselves, so we can comfort out children in their loss. There was a birthing pool at my hospital in a really none hospital style room and I wish more hospitals did this. It's the best of both worlds you can relax and try to have a natural birth in a relaxing setting but know that if things don't go to plan you are a corridor away from all the medical help you need. I think for most people with an uncomplicated pregnancy having a home birth with a midwife isn't so risky and some say it helps reduce anxiety and leads to a better birth but you can't ever know if you are going to be one of the unlucky ones were something goes wrong. This is why I chose a hospital in the end and would again.
@missjulien49724 жыл бұрын

This happened to me and my wife, our first children, twin boys, died at birth. It's been many years, but the pain doesn't quite go away even we had another son. Also in our case, there was no clear medical explanation, even after an autopsy and full medical review, as said in the movie. it's often like that. We didn't pursue the case, there was no point, the boys were gone. We had much support from the hospital staff, they were very good. They told us how to try to get closure. We found a compassionate priest(minister) who helped to organize a funeral even they were not christened. I carried their little urn to the lot and dug the grave myself. The stone only has the date of their birth/death. It does help to have somewhere to go and leave flowers or light a candle. What saved us was that we immediately decided to try for another child(we were doing IVF treatments). Our son is a happy healthy boy who brings us much joy. Our lives would have been very empty without him and I have no doubt we would have been divorced now and forever dwelling on the past. When tragedies happen they can break you if you let them or bring you closer together. To anyone that suffers this fate I want to say; hang in there, support each other, it's no one's fault. And do try again, don't lose hope, your life is not over even if it can feel that way. Love and care for each other, and remember that it can be emotionally just as hard on the father, he needs love and comfort too.

My fiancé and I welcomed our first light into this world, January 14th, at 11:37 am. I can’t describe to you all the feeling. We decided a home birth. What an amazing experience! Also, tragically, my sister lost her daughter, my sweet beautiful niece, a few years back. She was only 3 months. This movie is one I want to watch, but I am afraid of the feelings that will come over me. We had a miscarriage prior to our daughter being born. Man, like someone said, this is the kind of movie you want to watch, but you also don’t. I understand. Love OUR children.

As a mother who has lost two of her three children, I’m both terrified and incredibly curious to see this movie. I will say this-of all the movies I’ve seen so far about miscarriage, infant, or child loss, this one looks to be the most accurate portrayal of what this sort of loss does to the entire family unit as a whole. But it especially looks like it captures the utter devastation a loss like this does to the mom & dad. Fingers crossed that the full length movie is as revealing and respectful as the trailer.

Agreed. Vanessa's performance is one of the most breathtaking performances I've seen in a long,long time. It's ridiculous her performance was totally snubbed. The only reason Vanessa was not winning everything is bc of her co-star Shia's drama. I feel kind of bad for her. She was already winning critics awards before his allegations started. She is the obvious winner, so sad in hollywood you face the consequences of someone else's mistakes.

I've been absurdly happily married for almost 30 years (come January '21), but I was emotionally exhausted after watching "Marriage Story" (the 2019 Scarlett Johansson film). It was brutal. There was no 'feel-good' moment in the entire film. I wish we had read the synopsis before we started watching it, but by the time we realized where it was going we were invested in the outcome. In hindsight, we wished we hadn't finished watching it. Alan Alda was *the only* redeeming character in the entire movie, in my opinion.

Good for you! As a L&D/Pediatrics Nurse supervisor I commend you for knowing that you don't want/aren't meant to be a parent. It's much better to not have children than to be pushed, guilted, or shamed into having children that you already know, in advance of their conception, that you don't want. You just can't begin to imagine all of the many ways I have seen parents ruin the lives of their children over the course of my career. It's heart-wrenching. Good parenting requires a selfless sacrifice that not everyone is capable of nor willing to make. Kudos on recognizing the fact that not everyone is meant to be a parent. Don't give in into something that you know isn't for you. You don't owe anyone any explanations.

Amazing. As a good movie viewer and also a film producer, i can say that this movie is one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life. The script and the adaptation is great and the actors play very naturally and make the audience forget the camera. Vanessa plays incredibly natural and the scene of her labor pain at the beginning of the movie is amazing. Shia is also very good specially his crying scene near the sea. Ellen is gorgeous. By the way, the frame on the wall in the lawyer's room (sarah snook) is the view of istanbul bosphorus. Thanks to all who contributed in this film.
