25:10 "Unless gaster divided in 7 pieces" Deltarune according to the chapter screen has 7 chapters. Each chapter will presumably have a secret boss. Chapter 1 had Jevil. Chapter 2 had Spamton. Connection to memory head, “you hear voices through the receiver” and in the spamton neo fight in the genocide route he says “you can keep screaming into the receiver”
@abra_escaped3 жыл бұрын
Both Jevil and Spamton are mentioned to have met "someone" and acting differently after, with Jevil being aware of the world being a game and Spamton suddenly becoming very successful. Spamton's story also mentions him suddenly losing his success, with his phone being left on a call that was making nothing but "garbage noise," which we know is the entry 17 noise thanks to Kris' phone also making the same sound in the dark worlds. Both bosses also had a shadow crystal with them, which some have speculated will be made into a key to open the shelter in town, leading to something major involving Gaster. They are also both voiced by Toby unlike other characters whose voices are sampled from other places, in case that matters -Edit: ALSO both The World Revolving and BIG SHOT both use a leitmotif from the song -*-don't forget,-*- specifically the part that says "don't forget, I'm with you in the dark"-
@alliesangalli17572 жыл бұрын
There's definitely something to that connection. Very excited to see if this trend of someone changing the secret bosses holds true for the rest of the chapters when they come out. One small correction tho: the note about the Don't Forget leitmotif in BIG SHOT isn't true. While the Don't Forget leitmotif is used in THE WORLD REVOLVING, it isn't used at all in BIG SHOT. BIG SHOT does use the THE WORLD REVOLVING leitmotif, tho, which appears to be what will connect the themes of the secret bosses going forward.
@pallic7032 жыл бұрын
I'm referring to the edit part, but several songs have that leitmotif, so it might not mean anything. You can search up "all songs in deltarune that have I'm with you in the dark" and find videos with it. There are many songs, both in the dark world and in the town "overworld" type area

More than "Don't forget" (that leitmotif appears in half the soundtrack, without exaggerating), both "The World Revolving" and "BIG SHOT" feature the so called "freedom" leitmotif which is modeled on Gaster's theme

A hole in the theory: I don't think Spamton is the true hidden boss of chapter 2. Thw Neo body is. Spamton simply stole that role when he got you to load him into it. A possible counter argument is that he left his dark shard (or possibly the Neo body itself) in the castle himself, before he was kicked out.

now that chapter 2 is out, there's another thing that's easy to connect: dark world entrances appear to all be square, double doors. the door to the computer lab was even resprited to be a double door. what's a door we know about that's a square, double door? the bunker that plays the gaster speech sound effect. I suppose it's not really new evidence of gaster's existence, but it does mean that we'll definitely be exploring a dark world based on that bunker in the future. based on the importance of the number 6 with gaster, I'm gonna guess that we'll explore the bunker and hopefully learn about gaster in chapter 6, which is also the second to last chapter, allowing for the last one to build off knowledge of gaster that we'll potentially learn in chapter 6. also, since you were wondering about ice-E, ice-E's p'E'zza is also a square double door, which means we might get an ice-E dark world.

I think the bunker being chapter 6 is a great idea and quite probable. We won't know in the next update though, since it's only 3-5. I think the church might be the very last chapter, since its the only other building (with the exception of papyrus's house) that's totally inaccessible still. Plus, a bunch of Father Alvin's dialogue refers to The Angel, never just an angel, in the same way the legend does, implying the church has a deeper connection to the catastrophe from the prophecy.

@@nolasmor for the double doors that have a similar square shape, there's three more from what I could find (including the bunker): the bunker, one in asgore's back room, and the entrance to ice-e's p"e"zza. however, it's worth noting that we haven't been to noelle's house, and we haven't seen the inside of the church or the mayor's office, so it's possible there'll be more doors there. out of these, a door in noelle's house seems the most likely since she's so important. it's also possible there's only four more doors, meaning only one hidden door (which would be noelle's), with the last chapter possibly having a different type of entrance or playing out in a different way, due to it being the last. there's no evidence to this last point, it's just a possibility I thought of. otherwise, the last hidden door is likely in the church. noelle's house would already feature backstory on the mayor, probably.
@Pascll3 жыл бұрын
@@bcwtslbk7943 it's possible, though the door of the church is a different shape, so if there's something in the church, it'll be inside. it's also possible the final chapter will have a different type of dark world or play out differently (since it's the last chapter, it needs to be all climactic and stuff). there's no proof of this, just something that seems possible. it's also worth noting that we haven't seen noelle's house, only the gate, so there's possibly a door to a dark world there (considering how important noelle is, and since a large house like hers is likely to have a big double door) *edit: next part is kindoff wrong because I kindoff forgot about the ending of chapter 2* so, I think the dark world order will be: 3: ice-e dark world (since toby tweeted he wants the next chapter to be even sillier than chapter 2, and it seems other possible dark worlds would be more plot important, so they'd come later). would have catti and jockington possibly becoming more important. I know they don't work there, but they're new characters with character potraits, so they've gotta become important at some point, and all other potential dark world places are already tied to other characters. plus, we got the chance to talk to catti and learn more about her in chapter 2. ice-e's dark world would be ice and food themed. 4: either noelle's house or asgore's back room. both seem important so I can't decide which would come first. asgore's back room would be plant themed with possibly backstory between his and toriel's divorce, maybe something with asriel. we haven't seen noelle's home so we can't know what a dark world based on it would look like, but we can be sure there'll be some backstory with her parents, and there'd be some major stuff for the genocide route too. 5: same as 4 6: the bunker, probably all about gaster. we don't know what the inside of the bunker is like, but we can guess it might be science themed and probably really creepy. 7: maybe a different type of dark world? different type of chapter? something in the church?

At 14:00, I am pretty sure that is actually supposed to be Papyrus' handwriting. Flowey had him write it and then put it in the trash can to push Alphys to confront the True Lab so his plan in the Pacifist route to stall you long enough for Toriel to show up would work. It is shown that Flowey manipulates us to go their after his failed Photoshop battle because if you spare him he give hints to get a better ending, all of which lead to the Alphys date and the True Lab. We also know Flowey uses Papyrus as a puppet for his plan when he has him call everyone to come to the palace. In fact, the reason that Undyne only calls you about the letter in the Pacifist route is probably because Flowey got Papyrus to convince her to ask Alphys out after the save was reloaded. The easter egg in Deltarune that splits into two after you've closed the fridge door and opened it again may also be a reference to the theory of Schrodinger's Cat and parallel universes. DELTARUNE seems like one big experiment. In Undertale's genocide run, Sans explains that he's been monitoring the timeline and other parallel timelines. He also provides the Ice-E puzzle in Snowdin, so the "Nightmare Version" might be a test of his to understand which universe, or which FUN value, he's currently in.

My biggest theory is that the Dark world connects the two games, Sans being an example. We know of no Ice-E's PEZZA in Undertale yet there is one in Deltarune, taken by Sans through the Dark world. More evidence to support this is that you can enter the Dark world through both games: One as seen in Deltarune and another described by Seam. He describes how the lightners stopped visiting at one point and never came back, and knowing that the history to the Dark world extends around a hundred years because of Jevil's pacifist dialogue and the fact that the monsters were sealed underground a long time ago, the two timelines from the two games seem to match up.

I honestly thought that the Twitter text and the Deltarune ch1 intro "Character" were quite clearly Gaster, from the way of typing (all caps, short sentences), to the clam girl gaster follower (who was added to the Switch only a short while before Deltarune demo was released and told us about how the time of meeting their neighbour, "Suzy", was "fast approaching"), and whatever else. What sealed the deal for me was the song names: The only thing we have 100% confirmed to be related to Gaster is, well, what is called "Gaster's theme" in the game, however in the files, it is called "mus_st_him.ogg", mus_st meaning sound test, leaving the song to be called, "him". And, well, the song used in the intro for Deltarune is called "ANOTHER HIM". I usually put some distance between myself and theories because they will most likely be wrong, or based off of other theories (i.e assuming that "Suzy" is Susie, while seemingly obvious, could always mean something completely different in the mind of the creator), this one is directly revealed to be related to Gaster by the 2 names of the song.

I do think it’s Gaster and I also think it’s POSSIBLE that Gaster is responsible for Kris’s strange actions in the snowgrave route, as Noelle’s description of Kris’s voice during the route is “strange and terrifying” which would line up with what we’ve heard of Gaster so far. Gaster is probably assisting us in directing Kris as our vessel, and probably is the knight creating fountains to set up some grand plan or something of the likes.
@wimberlen3 жыл бұрын
To be clear, I don’t believe Gaster is in control of EVERYTHING. I believe Gaster has some level of control that allows him to tilt the odds in his favour. Think of him like lord English from homestuck (which Toby also worked on). He was manipulating the story from the beginning but didn’t directly control it, and only showed himself when the time was right.

@@wimberlen I personally do like to think that the player, too, is an entity, and so if the game. I don't like the chara narrator theory for that- it would make more sense for the narrator to be simply the game, like the world machine from oneshot but not really a character, like in an RPG, it's the game entity showing the player such information. It doesn't make sense to me that a child would know the inns and outs and details of every monster, let alone the exact stats and their changed mid battle Where was I going with this? Oh yeah, I thought that the scary voice was the player, commanding Kris and Noelle, because of how she can "still hear them" (what she thought was Kris) when we (the player entity) tell her to do certain things, during the berdley battle, which she later seems to understand isn't Kris' and calls it terrifying. -inb4 Gaster entity and player entity end up being the same so we're both correct- Just as a little side note reinforcement to my whole player entity thing, flowey clearly is knowledgeable of the game machine, and is clearly talking to the player about how "winning" this "game" will make us "not want to play"
@wimberlen3 жыл бұрын
@@ataino i agree to an extent. it is my belief that the player does not play as big of a role as they did in undertale (choices dont matter, remember?), and gaster is acting as a sort of antagonistic middle man between kris and the player. i believe (with the exception of snowgrave) gaster is performing actions through kris during the endings of each chapter. my reasoning for this is that speech that the intro man gives at the beginning of the game (who i believe to be gaster). a lot of people say this is debunked because the players choices DO matter in the snowgrave route, but like i said i think that gaster is again controlling kris to get something out of noelle that seems to be very important, something that the queen also wants. what this is, is not yet entirely clear, but its very obvious that noelle plays possibly the biggest overall role of any main character so far for reasons that are not clear to us at this time. i really dont think it'd make a lot of sense for toby to go the same "player is directly influencing the game" route he did with undertale, because we've basically torn apart undertale and learned all that there is to know about that formula. giving us an unexpected twist of fate by disregarding the same plot conventions he used previously would honestly be a power move, and i really think that's where toby is going with this.

Also worth mentioning, the Steam description of Deltarune says Papyrus is "busy" and can't be in the game, yet Sans asks Kris (or maybe the player?) to hang out with his shut-in brother. Notably, he has not yet said his brother's name in Deltarune... there is a possibility Sans' brother in Deltarune is not Papyrus, and thus he may very well be the Deltarune version of Gaster or even a new character all together (a skeleton named after another font, maybe even a human and they are adoptive brothers...)

13:34 Actually, we do have some leads on who that character is! In the Japanese translation, the speech patterns used in that sequence heavily parallel the dialogue of Chara. We receive the text in the backdrop of a black background, with no text box. In both instances, the speed it scrolls at is slower than the game's default settings- and when it _does_ scroll, there's no audio. Not even the default sound. I think it's safe to say we know who's speaking here.

Heyo, thanks for featuring my discoveries about the Chrono Trigger/Gaster connections! In return, I will present another set of cool Gaster's Theme/Chrono Trigger parallels for ya: "Another Him" uses the same Chrono Trigger sample that's used in Sealed Door and Gaster's Theme. It is the only Chrono Trigger sampled song in Chapter 1 - However, in Chapter 2, the song "The Dark Truth" samples a different piano, which is possibly "pianom" from the Chrono Trigger soundfont that Toby has been confirmed to use. Also in chapter 2, if/when you find the moss, a Chrono Trigger sample also plays there. Perhaps a connection as that room also contains a hint to the man with the egg room in C2, but it's a stretch. Another thing about the egg man - The person who gives you that important time egg was called *Gaspar*, and is the Guru of Time. Belthasar, the character who created the Ocean Palace, is the Guru of Reason. Gaspar resides in the End of Time after being thrown out of his home kingdom in the same disaster that stranded fellow Guru Belthasar across time and space. As Gaster was supposedly split into multiple fragments, that could be interesting. Another person, Janus, was thrown out due to the same event - and that character is the one which the "Black wind howls" line referenced in both the wind file name and during Undyne The Undying's Fight - "The Wind is Howling" - I know this is a lot but another important side note: Undyne the Undying's battle theme starts out using the same Chrono Trigger piano sample as Gaster's Theme. Once again, thanks for featuring my discoveries! (Also thanks to The Advertisement for informing me that you shared my findings)

In chapter 2, when back in town, Kris and Susie can visit the shelter in the south of town. After an interaction with monster kid and the other guy whose name I forgot, it's heavily hinted (if not downright stated) that Kris went into the shelter and came out a little weird sometime ago. If the shelter is connected to Gaster, and we do create a "goner" (possibly a "goner" version of Kris?) at the beginning of chapter 1, then this could mean that Kris and the fact that we control him could have something to do with Gaster.

The word search is Sans's "puzzle", and the word search relates to Deltarune with "Ice-E" not showing up anywhere else in Undertale. Meaning that Sans could have had the word search on him when he was brought to the Undertale world. So not only would this explain how the word search relates to Gaster, but is also another piece of evidence that Sans is from Deltarune.

Hello again, Graham, great video as always. I do have one major gripe with it, though, that being the notion that Gaster wrote the first few True Lab entries and that Alphys and Sans worked as his assistants. 1.) The fact that the initial entries are in proper case do not disqualify Alphys as the author. While she does usually write in all lowercase, she has demonstrated that she is able to write in proper case when she wants to via the note that she leaves in front of the elevator to the True Lab. Furthermore, Gaster has never been shown to write in proper case. He is almost always shown to speak in all caps (and even if you count REDACTED as a piece of Gaster, he speaks in all lowercase, not proper case). Therefore if we’re determining the author of the entries simply by writing style, Gaster can be dismissed right from the get-go. 2.) Alphys straight up says that SHE is the one who isolated determination. If Gaster were the one who wrote initial entries, then she would have at the very least said that she and someone else isolated determination together. And the notion that Gaster was forgotten and thus Alphys forgot that he was actually the one to discover determination cannot explain this, since it’s made clear by the Gaster Followers that Asgore remembered Gaster’s brilliance and that’s why it took so long to hire a replacement, and the existence of the early entries would make it easy for Alphys to deduce that someone else had made the discovery. So while Gaster did design the blueprints for the DT Extractor, it’s unlikely that he ever got to use it or even build it himself, since he had decided to explore an alternate route to escaping the Underground (the strange machine). 3.) From what we know about Alphys, it’s made pretty clear that she was pretty much a nobody before she built Mettaton and attracted the attention of Asgore. Had she worked with Gaster, she definitely would have used that to try to gain the position of Royal Scientist, yet we don’t hear about her doing any such thing. 4.) Gaster is implied to have been Royal Scientist a long time ago. This can be deduced from what the Gaster Followers say about Gaster, as well as the apparent timeline of his inventions. The CORE and the phone system are indicative of a time of peace in the Underground, when Gaster’s main priority as Royal Scientist was improving everyone’s quality of life. The DT Extractor and the strange machine are indicative of a shift to a time of turmoil and despair, when Asgore was desperate to find a way to escape the Underground. This means that Gaster was Royal Scientist for some time before and some time after war was declared, which we know happened a long time ago (likely at least a few decades before the game took place). Alphys wouldn’t have even been born then, so it’s impossible that she could have been working with Gaster. Sans is also implied to have arrived in the Underground relatively recently (no one says anything about Sans having been around for any lengthy amount of time), which goes against the notion that he worked with Gaster. --------- Also we already know what Fun stands for. Toby revealed it on his Twitter a while ago on his Twitter: “F is for friends who do stuff together, “U is for you and me, “N is for anywhere at any time at all.” While this may appear to be nothing but a lighthearted reference to Spongebob on the surface, there’s likely more to it than that, considering how the line “anywhere and any time at all” matches up with how the Fun values affect both time and space. This is made more noteworthy considering how Toby cut off the last line of the song (“Down here in the deep blue sea”).

@Quitting.Byeeeeee3 жыл бұрын
The "The Lost Soul stands there" thing is.. literally because it's flavor text for the battle and wasn't written specifically for the Sans and Papyrus Lost Souls battle. EDIT: I fear as though the "typer value 2 " in Deltarune being someone else theory isn't a very good one. The typer values aren't directly related to the character writing them. It's just used to determine that the text needs to look the way it does. Sans writes differently when he's being threatening. And the writing is different outside of the dimension where you create your character, because you may not be as close to whoever is saying all of this anymore, so now it uses a different kind of text.

Ok here’s what I think: Gaster was Gaster, a scientist in his world and then the “incident” happened - that incident was Toby creating the game aka making Gaster’s world into a game: giving it controls and fun values and then eventually posting it and giving to people to play with, creating millions of parallel copies of the same world. Aka getting shattered across time and space. Toby is Gaster, the first piece and the first connection. We are Gaster. We are holding pieces of him every time we “play the game” and create a new safe file. Deltarune is an anagram of Undertale, the Dark World, the goner maker, Gaster talking through Toby’s Twitter alongside the release of Deltarune… The connection with the cyber world and the game and reality throughout both of these stories… We are probably helping Gaster get more pieces of himself to be able to get whole again… while simultaneously shattering more and more pieces of him across time and space any time we interact with any of those two games and the narrative that Toby/Gaster are giving us. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.

That thing about Gaster being the Knight makes so much sense for Sans. The line about a strange knight appearing matches how the two skeletons appeared in Snowdin, and I still buy into MatPat's theory that Gaster split himself *into* Sans and Papyrus (who might have a Gaster Blaster attack of his own that we never saw), and it still goes along with Sans knowing Alphys and the "you two" that Gaster is talking to in Entry 17 being Alphys and Napstablook (who, on top of all the other connections, also writes in all lowercase and looser grammar)

I just wanted to say, the lower part of memoryhead to the right looks like a Gasterblaster, same eyes, same "nose", same horns/spikes

Jevil's theme uses Gasters theme. specifically the melody. Jevils theme even spells GASTER in the melody, if you assign scale degrees to the alphabet... (715654) EDIT: Gaster's motif is also in Spamton NEO...

24:47 2 ^ 6 = 64. [Typer Voice 2] to the power of [the 6th Goner] = The player character. Might be a stretch, though.

I'd also point out that the DT Extractor is... Weird. It feels like it's what the "Using the blueprints, I've extracted it from the human SOULs." line is talking about but...if that's the case, why would you need to consult the blueprints to figure out how to use a machine *you* made? Either your entry list could be wrong and 5 was Alphys, or the DT Extractor predates even Gaster

P.s that music file it may be him screaming as he falls to his death it would make sense if that was repeatedly broadcasted if something was a signal to echo and repeat forever which means he everywhere always in agony he may still think he’s falling

12:56 Spamton mentions mike and how he gave him the oppurtunity to be a big shot, and before the spamton neo fight theres a face never shown before in the darkness for a split second. I have a feeling Mike and Gaster are coorelated, and he was the one with the typer value of 2. After all before that discarded line cuts in gaster says "Youre about to meet someone very wonderful."

Talking about mike You know that jevil referenced the queen the main villain in the cyber world and now spamton references mike so maybe he's gonna be the main villain in chapter 3 and it might be related to undertale since that smile in the tv looks like alot like floweys omega form smile

7:06 also, it says lost souls right there, plural. with sans and papyrus. so, the lost soul singular with them is definitely an error.

Gaster is (possibly) split into 7 pieces. There are (likely) 7 Shadow Crystals. What if the Shadow Crystals are pieces of Gaster?

Hey, thanks for the plug to Hype’s channel ! It’s amazing to see the work being acknowledged here, and also, it creates more exposure towards the tweet about the machine.

Something interesting with the number 7 There’s supposedly going to be 7 chapters of Deltarune. So far, we have two, each with a secret boss. Jevil in Chapter 1, Spamton in Chapter 2. Both Jevil and Spamton are very clearly…off. It’s confirmed through in-game dialogue that Jevil came in contact with someone who caused his insanity, presumably Gaster, and it’s theorized the same thing with Spamton. The idea of an experiment is very commonly brought up in relation to Deltarune. We design a “Goner” at the very start. Maybe Gaster is using characters like Jevil and Spamton for an experiment of some kind? And we’ll likely have a new character for each chapter, my theory being that the final chapter will either involve Kris, or the Goner we created, meeting Gaster. There also seems to be an Egg in each Chapter so far. Who knows if that has any significance. Just something to think about for the people with a lot more theorizing ability than I have.

Wait… “dark world”… you know what else is dark? The void, a place where you can make up things that don’t exist, gaster is generally related to the void, maybe the dark worlds are all made from the void itself hence why when you create something and bring it to another area, or another “level” of the void, they can’t survive there and become statues. But that’s just my take and no one will probably see it 👀

I think, probably, the themes of "light and dark", "overworld and underworld", "human and monster" are likely all different ways of talking about the interaction between creator, player, and creation. The "holy trinity" of the game world. Light, overworld, and human all being metaphorically "the real world, players, creators" and the dark, underworld, monsters being creations. Undertale drew that divide very clearly, but Deltarune shows some idealized blending between overworld/underworld - human/monster... but even within that there is the Darkworld. A further imagined world within an imagined world. The meta-problems explored by these games cannot be resolved, resolving them ends them. Many characters want you to play, to maintain the existence of the imagined world, because they don't exist without the observer/player. They are "in the dark" and by being observed they become illuminated. Has anyone other than Kris (or possibly the player?) been identified as a lightener?

We definitely need a video regarding chapter 2... Especially re: Spamton.
