Truly a living and breathing thing I love that you said that , I have learned and I am still learning ,that you do not have to play everything the same way all the way through the song , in most cases our hero's are not any way , and with that said variations come to mind ,even the simplest ones can move the river! Love this song ,Great Video Kyle!

For sure! Cool you see it the way I do too! It’s a slippery slope trying to learn how to play these old songs, while maintaining the freedom to mess around with it too. Overtime the two methods seem just to kind of walk together though! Thanks bud!

I’ve been playing this for a while in open G, capo ii. It’s fun to go from this tune into John Hurt’s Frankie. Some similar licks in both too.

Oh nice! Yeah that works just as well! I’ll have to mess around with that.

@@kostringworks Great video btw! Julius Daniels doesn’t get enough attention. Richmond Blues is another edgy one for it’s time.

Isn't the guitar playing very, very similar to the standard "John Henry" arrangement?~ Seems like Daniel's must have adjusted that and used "new" lyrics.
