1993 is an interesting year in music, in that it has more songs that I really really like than a lot of years in the 90's, but not much songs I think are best of the decade material like I mentioned in a lot of the years that come later. Let's put it this way: I don't think 1993 would have a single representative in my top 10 90's songs, but I think it would be one of the most represented years in my top 50. So what are the best songs of 1993? I don't have a clear hierarchy but here some of the contenders in no particular order: The Sign by Ace of Base, Mr. Vain by Culture Beat, Loser by Beck, Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm by Crash Test Dummies, Whatta Man by En Vogue and Salt N' Pepa, Sound of da Police by KRS-One, Linger by The Cranberries, What's Up? by 4 Non Blondes and Everybody Hurts by R.E.M all come to mind, but I'm sure I'm forgetting a few. Most of the songs I mentioned here could present a legitimate case for number 1 of the year.

I actually didn’t mind Son of Stimpy. Sure, the pacing is slow, but Nick wanted this episode to be emotional. I like to think that this is a parody of those dramas about someone going missing.

Just because the network meddled with it doesn't make the product any less of a torture to sit through and yeah it's a parody, but it's not a GOOD parody, the execution needed a lot more work

@@cartoonfanatic ​ According to John K the episode was meant to be “fake pathos”, an experiment to poke fun of how easy it is to make heart-wrenching moments. The problem is that it’s too dragged out and sappy to be funny and the plot is too nonsensical to be played straight. The episode doesn’t know what to do with itself and it’s not a healthy balance either. Have You Seen This Snail was better because they used the jokes to create respite from the seriousness instead of treating the sad moments *as* the joke. Stimpy bawls over a fart for 3 years straight… *why should I care?* We rarely even see the stinky bugger until the latter third of the episode. It’s just so, SO boring; the amazing Carbunkle animation is the only thing that gives SoS some rewatch value. Outside of that there’s not much substance else to the episode. This was the last episode in production order before the “big switch to Games” but overall I’m so glad we had Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksman to finish up the season instead.
