I will never understand the large amount of hate Season 5 gets. To me, prior to Season 9, it was the last season I could comfortably judge as having more good than bad episodes. Season 5 (and also Season 4) may be nothing compared to Seasons 1-3, especially with how different and (badly) transitional they are, but in terms of post-movie, there are episodes from both seasons that can be classified as having pre-movie quality. They take a lot of risks, especially Season 5. And there are a lot of bad episodes, but aside from Good Neighbors, Atlantis Squarepantis, and others (all from Season 5), they aren't really that abominable. At their best, they can be just slightly or moderately irritating, but things will get much worse with Season 6 and especially Season 7 (and also a bit of Season 8 with episodes like Pet Sitter Pat). Season 5, until Season 9, will probably be the last season with more good SpongeBob than ScumBob. We're heading down a dark road... Hope you're ready for this, Pieguy. (you'll need it)

Hm, I haven't seen a lot of these episodes in a very long time. I'll admit that "Krabs a la Mode" is a pretty good one, though. I guess I was wrong to assume that there were no good Spongebob episodes at all after season four. There definitely are a few, here and there.

To me, about 90% of season 4 episodes, 70% of season 5 episodes, 40% of episodes from season 6 and 7, 60% of episodes from season 8 and 65% of episodes from season 9 are worth watching and are "good" episodes. And the rest of the episodes of each season are about half meh and half scumbob. (I only watched about half of seasons 10 and 11, a handfull of episodes from 12 and 3 episodes from season 13 so I dont have an opinion on those seasons since I didnt watch them all the way through yet) Also, my top 5 seasons are 4, 5, 8, 3, and 2 in that order. 3 and 2 would be higher but I watched those episodes way too often as a kid

Yeeaahh, it's basically a Plankton Torture fic and Mr. Krabs is even _worse_ than just a money hog; he wants Plankton *dead.* It's bad, trust me. But hey, there will be episodes (especially Plankton's Pet, the opposite of a torture fic; I call them "love letters") will be a nice refresher from all the bad, bad episodes to come. Speaking of bad episodes, I have a feeling either season 7, season 8, or both will be Scumbob seasons. I never really understood all the hate post-movie SpongeBob get. Seasons 4 and 5 are actually pretty decent, in my opinion. It seems like that's something we both agree on, PieGuy. However, I will say that Seasons 6 and 7 are the weakest seasons.

I remember a lot of post-movie episodes as classic episodes, probably because seasons 1-3 originally aired before I could form clear memories(Culture Shock and F.U.N originally aired exactly a year before I was born, if you'd like a frame of reference). Spongebob vs. The Patty Gadget is one I'm surprised wasn't part of the first three seasons. Really, I think the point where Spongebob really went downhill is sometime during season 6. Seasons 4 and 5 aren't perfect (though imo, season 4 fits nicely with the pre-movie episodes-I remember a lot of season 4 episodes to be classics), but I still remember them fondly.

Going off my personal experience, a few years ago, I caught Best Frenemies playing & I wanted to watch it to see how modern SpongeBob was & I was alright with it. Given it had Plankton & Krabs working together & with me liking Plankton teaming up with most other people, I found it hard to dislike. That & I swear that I heard Plankton say crap in that episode. I thought if they can manage to slide something like that past the censors then there must still be some redeeming qualities to the series & it was that moment on that I let myself be more open to it & not hate the current series anymore.

The way he describes to love a patty is exactly what I think about it, except that I don't think it's bad. When people compare it to things like good neighbors or the splinter, I feel like they're overreacting. To me compared to the gross imagery in the splinter and greasy buffoons, or the insufferable filler in the main drain or it came from goo lagoon or bad squid ward torture porns, an episode that's just a little bit odd, this one, is kind of amusing in a wtf sort of way. That said, the clam scene is really bad, it is gross at the end, there isn't much comedy and the song is...ugh. I recommend watching this without expectations or a serious outlook and just accepting it as a weird story.

If you like Good Neighbors then I think it's very clear our tastes are very different. Just because something isn't up to the high standards of the early episodes, doesn't mean it's not good. There are a lot of terrible post movie episodes, but season 5 has a lot of episodes ranging from pretty good to great. I take a lot of time thinking about the ratings for these episodes, and I don't appreciate someone accusing me of "lowering my standards". If you disagree with me, then just say so. No need to accuse me of being a bad reviewer.

My point was that, due to the massive quality drop starting in season 4, I think a lot of us grew used to that style and it lowered everyone's standards to what we consider to be a good episode. I don't consider an episode like Good Neighbors to be anywhere near as entertaining as anything Season 1-3, but I still enjoyed it without over analyzing it. I don't think I have a true reason as to why I do, I guess I just do. Idk. Maybe I'm just talking myself deeper into a hole here but I meant no offense. I always try to be honest and constructive in my opinions but I guess I don't always word them in the most tactful ways. The last thing I wanted was to make you feel like a bad reviewer. There are very few who can do what you do and execute it as brilliantly as you do. :)

Hey PieGuy, I like your Season reviews of Spongebob, do you mind if I do something simliar like this on my channel, but with Adventure Time instead? I feel I need to review every episode of Adventure Time becuase of the situation it's going through, and I feel I need to help the show after what it's been going through.
