Mike really knows his business... he is a born teacher . Every sentence has meaning , no chit chat . These lectures are first class.. One summer while I was staying with my grand parents in Daytona I went to the community college for a night class series on surf fishing . It on Wednesday nights for 6 weeks . It was excellent and taught by the fishing guides in the area at that time . I think I paid $45 in the 1970's for that class , and I still remember many of the great tips I learned there . But Mike surpasses these classes by a mile . and they are free . I am getting ready to move back to Florida , and I am watching these seminars to the point of memory . This is a life time of experience Mike is teaching . And Mike is not a fishing snob , he treats fishing off the pier or beach just as rigorously as he would treat fishing off a $ 7 million sports fisherman boat . Thanxs Mike , people will be watching these a 100 years from now . The basics of fishing haven't changed in the last 50 years . maybe the tackle has been refined in materials , but that really hasn't changed much either . A mirrolure looks just the same as when I was a kid etc .

26:29 this information is so true, I have been down here in Lake worth FL for two weeks fishing the Pier. Last week the wind was blowing and the water was ruff and the whole pier was catching fish. This week it was clam and nothing was going in. When you see the surfers out and the Waves are big that's the time to hit the Pier. This information is on point. Thanks.

Hi Capt Mike, I really enjoy your seminars, I can't wait for the weekend to wet a line. We have a prized fish here in Australia called a Jewfish or Mulloway it is the same as the Cob in South Africa. Some people have been chasing them for a decade and still not caught one, it took me 2 years of going at least once a week to get my first which went 55lbs and the second one a few months later 24lbs. The unique thing about this species is they are targeted at the turn of the tide on the pier, they will take most live baits and big lures worked slowly. Tight lines, John

Florida Sport Fishing they are around, they are also called the "silver ghost" as they are elusive, I was always chasing them with bait and getting rays or sharks, a guy who catches a couple dozen per year told me to use the big swim shad plastics and that is what worked for me.

Capt. Mike, I enjoy your semina. You're very knowledgeable in fishing which would derived from your precious experiences. I liked the phrase you have mentioned while talking about fishing rods. You said the rod you're holding is a part of your body.(extention) That's an quite of accomplishment which you're able to say it. I learn a lot from you. Thanks. Juno is my beach, and I've never been on that pier. I've fished under it, but not on it. I usually cast out next to it, because nobodys on that first third anyway. Easier to land, and release fish from the beach too. The only thing that would be easier is cast netting bait.

Where I live, the only fish that can be caught are blue fish, whiting and something called mulloway which is kind of like a snook (gets to 70+kg and is very good on the table. Which leaves me fishing for whiting one one bait and using that as live bait on the other rod for mulloway which is pretty boring since I have gone many days without a sniff since they are somewhat rare.

I fish in the north east mainly in New Jersey and I usually fish buck tails in all different ways whether it is bouncing them for fluke or 3 waying them for striped bass. I was wondering what the difference between the flair hawk and buck tails.
@FloridaSportFishing
@FloridaSportFishing 6 жыл бұрын
Flair Hawk has unique shaped head and hair is cut at different lengths, unlike a ducktail where it is generally uniform. Flair Hawk is designed to be fished slow and steady directly off bottom, you can crawl the thing, too. Usually bright chartreuse with burgundy or something dark. Mimics baitfish and crabs. Swim it slowly with the current by a bridge, a striper will kill it! - Capt Mike

Brandon LeBoon I've used a bucktail jig in the same manner that the captain describes. This was about 20 years ago. I did it around Gandy, the Howard Franklin, Pier 60. It's a shame they took down Gandy Bridge. It was a great place to fish around if you knew how to fish it. Oh I caught Snook just like the Flair Hawk.

@Trigger Warning It's unethical for many of the same reasons it's illegal and unethical to use a 6" long red snapper for bait. You're probably the kinda guy that hooks up small snook for shark bait and doesn't get what all the fuss is about because it's perfectly fine to hook up a bonito or stingray for shark bait too huh?

You mean like fishing shark as bait for sharks? Some guys do that I even know some surf fishermen up the coast who fish small live blacktip sharks for giant bull and hammerhead sharks. Yankee transplant talking about Florida fishing and suggesting 8 rods and fluorocarbon which isn't necessary. Looks like he drinks more beer than catching fish.

You a great but obviously it's annoying when you are consistently selling unfortunately there are not enough people that watch these videos for you to not need to sell like you do.
