Kuya I got my first opaleye in onceanside I caught it by accident in a sabiki it hooked in the eye and it’s 14”,,so happy,,2hours drive its all worth it,,😊😊

Nice. Yes there's some opaleye in Oceanside. Mostly by the sink infront of the ruby's and sargo also.

Size 1/0 mustad hook. For the parking lot. Infront of the pier there's 2 hotel. Behind that there's parking lot 5 dollars till midnight.

Depends on my target species. I mostly fish for croaker and sargo and they usually from surf to the toilet. If I want mackerel, opaleye, bass, bonito sardines, Salinas, hearing and other species then I go fish around ruby's.

I was at the pier last week someone caught 18 inches bonito and the rest was small. Right now still hard to catch them wait till the bait comes around for sure bonito will be out too.

My set up is similar to Carolina rig or fish finder rig and 6 ounce weight. And the the kind of weight I use is called claw sinker but pyramid also work. And my leader is about 30 inches from hook to my main line.

Croaker has no legal size and you can keep up to 10 per day. Don't worry I don't keep illegal size.

Yes the best alternative bait I use if I don't have baby mussel is open mussel, bloodworm or ghost shrimp they're all good for croaker.

What kind of fish u targeting? If it's spotfin croaker the answer is no. But shrimp works for yellowfin croaker.
