Pier Runners BARELY Make It!!

Day 4 of the March 11th sailing of Royal Caribbean Adventure Of The Seas. Pier runners barely make it in from a day in Cozumel. Warning - Some adult language.

On my last cruise 2 people were late twice. At the third port, they were called by name on the loudspeaker and told to be on time at this port.

A cruise employee told me that the time to be back on board is 30 mins to an hour before the ship actually leaved. So, runners who get left are beyond just late.

I don't know when I cruise I never noticed this because once I get back on ship I'm getting me something to eat taking a shower heading to the pool doing something not staring out looking to see who was late

If they are on a ship booked shore excursion the ship HAS to wait. If you book on your own you take your chances...

Remember this could people who bought excursions through the cruise ship. They have to wait for them.

When our excursion was late, we were escorted by an official back to the ship and didn't have to run, probably so they knew we were not pier runners.

Yes but this isn't the case. No excursions are 2-3 people. Always a group and they would be escorted by the port to the ship

I'd love to have bullhorn and stand on the deck yelling to runners "move your ass, you're late"

They should be heavily fined. $50 per person per minute. That'd get them hustling.

Not necessarily. We were on a sailboat excursion and the motor died preventing us from getting back in time. The sail crew notified the ship and called for another boat to come and get us. Why should we have been charged??

I agree 15 minutes then start unhooking ropes and pushing the ramp in for final cast off and get have the thrusters whipping around too late when thrusters are moving.

Some ships routinely depart 30 minutes after the posted departure time. Some ships do not.

Caveat: ship excursions coming back late does not 100% guarantee they will wait. We were on Mexican Rivera cruise when one of ship excursions was about an hour late and we had to leave because the tide was going out and the ship would be stranded in port if we didn’t leave. The ship covered the cost of hotel and transport to next port for the 40+ people left behind. I know this because one of the couples were our dinner MDR table mates and told us the story when they caught up to ship the next day. This was on HAL cruise and port was Acapulco.

I wonder how they handle the passport situations in that scenario. Sometimes folks leave their passports onboard.

Because some of the ships excursions haven’t come back yet and they cannot leave them. If it’s a ship excursion it is not the person’s fault that they’re late.

I find recordings and commentary of pier runners hilarious. Their tardiness is 99% due to their piss poor planning skills. You don't do afternoon excursions,you don't get so drunk you forget to keep time. I am the guys recording and heckling
