About Haechan's voice (the one with pink hair) the truth is that it is known that his voice is described as squeaky or I don't know but he has an incredible vocal and fans of Haechan's voice know that not everyone likes his tone or his way of singing but we still respect that everyone likes what everyone wants and we don't get angry about that.

Agree, but this is literally the first non fan reaction I’ve seen someone not infatuated with Haechans unique vocals, especially in this performance…as an American fan who doesn’t know the language well, Haechans voice was one of the first things I noticed in this group that made me want to hear more…it is so different from anyone else and may take a second to appreciate how unique it is, so I had to pause the video to comment haha. Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, but his voice is beautiful and one of the most unique in K-pop imo!

I would consider his vocal tone more nasal than squeaky. "Squeaky", in my mind, suggests a lack of vocal control/the presence of voice breaks. But his nasal resonance is very strong and controlled, and that's just how his voice naturally is. Even his speaking voice is higher and resonates much more in the nose area than most voices. His tone is very consistent and his control in his head voice is really impressive. I personally love Haechan's voice, though I will say it did take me a bit of time to warm up to at first! I never disliked his voice, but I had to get used to the nasal quality to fully appreciate its uniqueness.

7:18 NCT127 are quite known for this choral-esque type of choruses. Their voices blend so amazingly that they definitely try to utilize it in their songs as much as they can (and who can blame them? It sounds so good!). You can find that they do this a lot, especially in their title songs! 11:40 It's extremely hard to categorize NCT's music, even just within a singular sub-unit such as 127. One thing that is prominent with NCT127's music over the years, though, is that their title tracks they promote are usually more unique and experimental with their sounds. More of the groovy/chill ones that you heard in this Killing Voice are actually their B-sides. Many people who only hear their title songs assume that their sound is only "loud" or what some haters like to call "noise music" because it has so many experimental aspects to the songs that people may not enjoy. Yet, their whole discography is extremely diverse from album to album! 14:56 I'm glad you love the song Lemonade! It's definitely a fan favorite, even though it is actually a B-side track! Since it is not their main song off the album, they do not have an official, full-length music video for it. Instead, there is a "track video" that they filmed, but it does not have the FULL song in it. Track videos are designed to basically be shorter, lower-budget music videos for the fans, so they never include the full song. You may not be as keen on it at first - or maybe you could be overwhelmed - but the more you listen to the song, the more it begins to grow on you! I did not like 2 Baddies on the first listen. Yet, as I listened to it more times, I began to sing along and found myself really enjoying it. They never follow the "popular trends" at the moment, making them very unique! Haechan's voice has kind of a childlike quality to it, even when he is speaking it sounds like that, which is part of why its so unique. i definitely like it together with the groups vocals as it adds a nice variation, but i can see what you mean about not preferring his solo parts over others if you like "fuller" voices

NCT yayyy!! Thank you so much. There is so much to NCT. For some basics there are 4 units which are NCT 127, NCT DREAM, WayV (Chinese unit) and NCT U (mixed unit). There are currently 26 members in total with the new NCT unit to debut this year. NCT 127 has 9 members. Their names are Taeyong, Yuta, Haechan, Johnny, Mark, Taeil, Doyoung, Jungwoo and Jaehyun. I really hope you dive deeper into their discography. They have so much to offer and cover almost all genres. For me, each sub unit has its style and "sound", NCT 127 is a group in which they experience a lot in their songs but have very good production and good songs like NCT in general. And NCT DREAM is the sub-unit of NCT that have a calmer and not quiet but more "simple" concept. And from WayV, which is the other sub unit, they have a sound that I really don't even know how to explain it because I don't listen to them much but maybe you like it more than NCT DREAM and I don't know if it's from NCT 127. It has always been said that NCT's music is not for everyone, but it is known that it is an excellent group with talent and with very good production.

Haechan's (pink hair) tone is very bright and forward. It's really unique and interesting. Taeil (short one beige shirt) has a much fuller, powerful sound that typically appeals to a wider range of listeners. I like the wide range of vocal tones NCT 127 has, it definitely makes for a more interesting listen than if their voices were all too similar in tone.

To put it more into perspective nct dream debut when they were all underage so they were children hahahah 14-16 years old i think so some of the songs they sang were from that time which is why they were sweet and cute i guess. So they had a very cute concept because they were so so young, you can see a picture from 2016 you wouldn't be able to recognize them. So i hope this makes more sense as of why they have more cute sounding sounds, they are known as the "youthful" unit of nct and people are attached to them because we watched them grow. On the other hand, in korea idols are expected to have some kind of cuteness and it is more normalized. You can experience so much alike of how you felt about 2 Baddies song with their other songs. Most of their songs are vocal-centric. At least dominant of all their songs. You'll find that their vocals' presence in their songs' instrumentals always make their songs colorful. And for my personal preference, I like their stuff being so. I get to hear real talents, not just pure flashy instrumentals. You can check "Sticker" for best example to what I'm saying. Hehe! Again, very nice and honest review. Stay safest!

Very “interesting” as you would say, that you found their sound complicated when Aespa and Dreamcatcher (both groups I love and you seem to as well) also have very different and experimental sounds in the kpop spectrum. Especially "interesting" when most of these songs just had an R&B sound 😅 But yes as others have stated, trying to put 127 in a box is amusing to say the least, considering they are one of if not the most multifaceted group where they can do it all. They’re one of the few groups who sing together and harmonize, because they’re one of the few who actually can lol.. They don’t say SM is the home of vocals for nothing after all.

NCT 1 2 7 Debut July 7th, 2016- is the second sub-unit of NCT. 1 2 7 currently is a fixed unit of nine members. The 127 stands for the longitudinal coordinate of Seoul SK. The leader of 127 is Lee Tae Yong (White/silver hair ). NCT is an acronym for Neo Culture Technology. The Neo of their name speaks to their music being the most experimental, future forward, different and diverse. They have members from Korea, Japan, China, Thailand, USA and Canada. The group is under SM Entertainment SK. Their fandom name is NCTzen (meaning all the fans are citizens of NCT). The Neo sound of NCT 127 and NCT as a whole it was drew me to them. I love the Neo/R&B/Hip Hop sound of their music and SM artists in general.

This Killing Voice performance, as the title indicates, is supposed to showcase NCT-127's outstanding vocals, so just like in all the other Killing Voice performances you have watched, what you are hearing is a complication of some of the best parts of their songs that highlight their vocal abilities. They have a lot of songs, so you are only hearing a small fraction of them and only a few lines of each of the songs (And in some cases, they are singing parts from the middle of the song, so it may sound different when you listen to the actual song.) Also, several of these songs are B-side tracks that don't have MVs, so you'll have to check out live performances instead. You would have been able to understand what they were saying if you had the CC English subs on.This video has been out long enough that a fan has taken the time to sub the entire video, song lyrics and all. You should go back and rewatch this killing voice performance with the CC subs, so that you can see what the songs are about and understand what they are saying when they are just talking, etc. How to know when to leave the subs on or off: If you click on the CC button and it just says "English," this means either the company or a fan has taken the time to translate what they are saying in Korean, or whatever language they are speaking, into English. However, if you click on the CC button and it says "English (Auto-generated)," this means these are subs that are designed for the hearing impaired and they only work on videos where they are speaking English. The way auto generated subs work is the computer listens to what is being said in the audio on the video and it attempts to interpret what is being said in English. Therefore, on a video where they are speaking in Korean most of the time, the computer is trying to find English words that sound like the Korean words that it hears, it's not translating the Korean into English. Because NCT is an SM Entertainment group, it shouldn't be a surprise that they are also amazing singers. As you are starting to discover, SM is known for having some of the best singers in the industry. You can't be an SM artist without having unbelievable vocal abilities. Even the company's rappers focus on vocal training. That is why the company has gained the reputation as the vocal powerhouse of the industry. All of SM's artists and groups are known for being top tier when it comes to live vocals and perfect harmonies. And, switching up the beat and style of the song in the middle of the song is pretty much how the majority of NCT songs are structured, as well as SM's songs in general. It's kind of SM's signature style. You will hear that same thing happen in a lot of the songs you listen to from SM. In this performance there are 9 members -- from left to right: *Johnny (lead vocalist and sub-rapper), Yuta (lead vocalist), Haechan (main vocalist), *Taeyong (leader of all of NCT, main rapper and dancer), Jungwoo (main vocalist), Taeil (main vocalist), Doyoung (main vocalist), *Mark (main rapper and dancer) and *Jaehyun (main vocalist and sub-rapper). Taeil is the oldest of all of NCT and he is currently 29 and Haechan is the youngest in NCT-127 at 23. However, if you want to know who is the youngest out of all the NCT members, that would currently be NCT-Dream member, Jisung, who is 21. (However, after 7 years, he won't be the youngest much longer when the 6 new members of NCT's "New Team" Japanese sub-unit debuts soon. "New Team" member Sakuya, who is currently 15, will officially be the maknae. They just released their first pre-debut song, "Hands Up" earlier today.) NCT -- which stands for Neo (a pop culture term that means new/original) Culture Technology -- currently has 20 members. And the group right now as a whole has 4 sub-units -- NCT-U, NCT-127, NCT-Dream and WayV. (NCT will officially become a 26-member group when NCT's 5th sub-unit the "New Team" debuts.) Therefore, their style is meant to be new and original with elements that embraces different cultures and technologies to create their sound. What you are struggling to put into words and categorize is just called NCT-style, they don't really have a traditional music style that you can attach to them. NCT-127 is NCT's second sub-unit, which debuted in July 2016. NCT-127 currently has 9 or 10 members. This group is more of a fixed unit, so the member lineup stays the same most of the time. The 127 in this unit's name stands for the longitude coordinates of Seoul, South Korea, on a map of the world, which means it's 127's job to represent Seoul -- the birthplace of Kpop -- around the world. However, now that NCT has 9/10 members they also include Johnny and Jungwoo in the song whenever they perform it. Fun fact: "Limitless" came out in January 2017 and its Johnny's official debut in NCT and Doyoung's debut as a member of NCT-127 (Doyoung first debuted as one of the very first members of NCT in NCT-U's debut song "The 7th Sense", but he was not part of NCT-127's debut). For their song "Touch", the part at the beginning where Mark said, "ummm ...", that was actually part of the song. If you listen to the full song, you will hear him do the same thing in the MV. "Touch" came out the year that 127 and Dream traded concepts. "Touch" is very cute, sweet and soft, which is what we were more accustomed to with NCT-Dream. And, around that time Dream came out with a song called "Go" that was much more hype and hardcore, which is what NCT-127 is more known for. What you heard was the Korean version of "Highway to Heaven," but if you watch the MV for the song, you will see they also have an all-English version. ("Highway to Heaven" was released during their North American leg of their concert tour in 2019.) They have an all-English version of some of their songs because NCT-127 promotes a lot in the U.S. "Faster" was just an (INST) instrumental version of the song, which means it's just the music and they don't sing. "Faster (INST)" was the intro to "2 Baddies," so Johnny was supposed to be introducing "2 Baddies" at that moment while "Faster" was playing. "2 Baddies" was their most recent comeback song at the time and the whole reason why they were on Dingo's Killing Voice was to promote "2 Baddies," which is why you heard that whole song, "Designer" was also a song on their 2 Baddies album. NCT is one of the most internationally diverse groups in all of Kpop. The members as a whole represent 8 different countries and they speak 7 or 8 different languages. For example, there are 11 native Korean members (*Taeyong, Doyoung, Taeil, Haechan, *Jaehyun, Jeno, Jaemin, Jisung, Jungwoo, and new members Sion and Daeyoung), *Mark is Korean-Canadian, *Johnny is Korean-American (from Chicago), 5 Japanese members (Yuta and new members Riku, Yushi, Ryo and Sakuya), *Ten is Thai, *YangYang is Taiwanese but he grew up in Germany, Hendery is Chinese from Macau (China) and 5 mainland Chinese members (WinWin, Kun, Xiaojun, Renjun and Chenle). However, they all live and work in Korea, so everyone speaks Korean fluently. Plus, many members have attended international schools or lived abroad, so there are several members who are also *fluent in English, on top of speaking 2 or more other languages. NCT is a group that is constantly changing and rearranging its members and sound and we never know quite what to expect from them. With a concept that allows the members to rotate between sub-units, changing, adding and subtracting members depending on the concept and style of the group or song, you should never expect the same thing from them. You are better off always expecting something new, that somehow, also ends up sounding very much like NCT. LOL NCT is SM's attempt at taking over the music industry around the world. SM's original goal was to eventually have NCT sub-units representing every major city in every country in the world. For example, they are just about to add a Japanese sub-unit. It has always been SM's plan to have world domination. And to that point, right now NCT-127 is the group that SM is using to try and get their foothold in the U.S. music market with all English versions of song like "Regular" and "Highway to Heaven" and collaborations with American artists such as Jason Derulo, as well as U.S. concert tours and promotional tours with the American media, etc. So, this year is NCT's 7th anniversary, but debut dates are different for any number of members because it all depends on when they were added to the group. And many of the members of NCT actually became recognized by fans even before debut because they were part of SM's pre-debut group project called SMRookies (or the new members who were part of a reality survival show called LASTART), so SM did activities with several of the members before they debuted.

Usually people do not like them because their music is not mainstream and doesn’t fit the usual music genre K-POP usually follows. You struggled to figure out which lane to put them in but its just NCT style, their Title Tracks are usually out of the norm and their B-Sides are mostly RnB and "normal” music. All in all this group is really strong compared to other groups, they’re mad talented in every factor possible. They have their very own lane that is extremely unique and hard to replicate.

If you read my comment again you will see that the "mainstream" was meant for the NCT Dream subunit.... and they were for sure mainstream easy listening simple music... there was nothing special or musically extravagant about them, But as I have now learned they debuted as kids and those songs do sound "immature". As for NCT 127 they were very experimental and interesting. Maybe a tad too much here and there. But I will check out more of their music (127) and see how it goes.

Dream's songs are definitely much easier to digest than 127. When I first got into 127 I was very intrigued by their sound and over time they became my favorite group. NCT ballads and R&B songs are my favorites, but 127 title tracks start to grow in me after the second/third listen

Haechan is the main vocalist of the nct and he is loved by his unique vocal tone and skill😊 He has talented dance skills as the main dancer. Thank you very much... as you said its personal preference. I also didn't like Changsub in BTOB .... but I liked Sungjae very much... I'm not for the too high, headvoice falsetto kind of male voices. Just not my thing. If a male singer goes up high with his full voice once or twice in a song its cool... but other than that I prefer female voices doing that. The most comfortable register for a male voice to me (as a listener) is the mid range with the capability of going up once in a while and down when needed... but I do like it when they sing with their full voices when going up.

Thank you for your honest review. I really appreciate it! NCT's music has been known as "the noise music of kpop". For their title tracks, they always have experimental music with weird sounds. But for their b-sides, most of their tracks are R&B, ballad, or EDM When NCT debuted in 2016, they didn't have many people liking their music because it's really different compared to the conventional kpop music at that time. At first, the term "noise music" was given to them as an insult due to various weird sounds in their songs and their unusual music that is not friendly to conventional kpop music listeners. You can watch their Simon Says & Sticker MVs. One of the lyrics in Simon Says is "NCT noise, you can't break me." It refers to their haters who mocked their style of music. I think Simon Says & Sticker are their peak "neo" sound. Simon Says incorporates weird sounds, incl. the sound of a horse, while Sticker is so expermental that the song got people confused. The melody in Sticker only appears in bridge & chorus. When Sticker was released, it created a serious discourse in the kpop community. Haters still use that song to insult 127, but the song also attracted many new fans (127 members' live performance of this song is soooo good. They got praises for their raw vocal that is prominent in this song). It's either you like it or you hate it. There's no in between when it comes to Sticker. However, their quirkiness has created a new genre in kpop. They even shape the music for newer kpop boygroups (Generation 4 of kpop), according to kpop music experts. Some of the Gen 4 kpop boygroups now have title tracks that have NCT-like sound. They kinda mix several genres of music into 1 song or have heavy, daring bass. But what makes NCT 127 superior is that their music has layers of sound and they have different types of vocal, which allows them to have choir-like vocal arrangements. Fyi, after their Dingo Killing Voice video was out, korean media dubbed them the choir group of kpop.
