I'm happy for anyone out there that's loving their X100V. I'm in 100% agreement with Pierre's last sentiment though. You're not missing out if you have a camera in your hands and you're out there working your skills. I also get that a lot that swirls around the X100V hype is around the feels-which is great, but it's a luxury for many people. For those people who are wringing their hands and feeling that FOMO-you're good. Shoot with what you have, and go make awesome photos. ❤💪

I have an x100v and it is by far my favourite camera. The images are beautiful, the process is fun, the camera is unobtrusive and it inspires me to take photos. I use it for 90% of my photography and wouldn't sell it for double, triple , quadruple its market value. It is my favourite.

Agree. There are some UK photographers on KZbin doing wonderful street photography with the X100V. It's very capable in the right hands, and for specific types of work. David Hobby and Zack Arias figured that out 12 years ago with the original X100.

For me it's about making photography fun when I'm not working with my camera. I shoot an a7riv for work and don't want to drag it around with me if I'm not getting paid. So a smaller camera is key for me for fun/daily shooting. Fujis are great because their color science and film simulations mean I can shoot JPEG and not process. For 5 years now it's been my a7riv or my phone. I'm diving back into small pocketable options so I have a "real camera" when I'm out and about. The X70/XF10 are another one to check out if you're going to look at the ricoh GRiii as well. Same lens basically but fuji's versions (slower AF, better battery life).

I’ve had all the X100 series including the V. It’s great, but I get just as much enjoyment out of my X-T30 with the 23 f/2. Worse viewfinder, no leaf shutter, but better focus. Either way it is great to have a daily fun camera to use. I keep my X-T30/23mm the same usually, so I don’t have to worry about what lens to use. But occasionally switching it out for the excellent XF35 f/2 lens is a really nice option.

I own a Fuji X100V and love it. I also own a Sony A7iii and two RX100s an IV and V but always grab the Fuji because of the easier after-photo process thanks to excellent jpegs along with the onboard film simulations. I just don't always have the time to sit in front of a computer to edit my photos and the X100v helps me avoid doing that.

I had the x100f for a year and a half and also shot some with the x100v. While I really enjoyed that camera, and the x100v definitely improves on the focus, flash and lens, I realized I found the same enjoyment shooting on film, and I'd rather have a smaller xf mount Fuji for a digital camera. Also didn't mind selling for a pretty penny quite a bit more than what I bought it for 😜 Don't need it all in one camera body there's definitely overhype.

I get a similar feeling when using point and shoot film cameras. The casual feeling its something else. These days I have a great time with the Olympus XA2. Its very compact so you can pocket it and really daily carry it. I think this x100v is still too bulky and delicate. The XA2 has a cover for the lens and it doesn't stick out so you can be confident in throwing it in a pocket or bag and won't get damaged by other items. Maybe they can do a new version with the capability to cover all sensitive surfaces.

I got a little Samsung point and shoot for $25 that truly fits in a pocket. It's not spectacular, but it gets me out taking pictures, and it doesn't do too bad with a 16 mp sensor and a decent LCD screen. I take it out and use it more to test photos before breaking out a film camera or the Sony a7ii (or Olympus or Canon). I enjoy having a variety of different cameras to play with. Makes life more interesting. I definitely have enjoyed getting out more and more lately as real life gets more stressful. Anyway, I agree with all of what both of you said here. I would love one of these cameras, but I won't use that as an excuse to not get out and shoot.

@@frankhu8692 I primarily shoot my GRII using snap focus. I only use autofocus or manual focus for stationery subjects. Shooting with my GRII feels a lot like shooting with any film compact point and shoot. Perfect for “snapshot” style photography, which is why many street photographers have liked the GR line of cameras since the film days. I still like the physical dials and switches of my X100V, but the GR is still my favorite overall camera, since it fits the style of photography that I enjoy doing the most. I find this little camera quite appealing. I don't do photography for a living, but I do shoot almost every weekend on my X-T5. It's nice, but during weekdays I still want to carry it but usually end up leaving it home - it's a bit too big. If I had some spare cash sitting around I would go for an X100V or an XPro4 when that one comes out (and use it with a smaller lens like the 27mm). I edited my photos for a while, but then I just got over it and realized I don't need to edit every photo I take, and that a lot of them are good "as is" right out of camera. Imperfections also often give the photos some character or flavor. I also don't like shooting on my phone, I prefer it stay in my pocket most of the time.

The only thing im missing in the older models is not so much autofocus but the tilt screen and the closeup sharpness, but for those occasions i can just grab the. Ricoh GR II is an APS-C camera that fits in your pocket with your phone and keys. If you can live without a viewfinder (actually quite liberating in my opinion), it's equal to the X100V at less than half the price. The X100V isn't small enough to fit in a pocket and bring everywhere, so that kind of defeats the purpose of having a slim form factor.

I just received one from Adorama after 5.5 months on a waitlist. My first impressions are its a very solid little brick of a camera and I like the control knobs. The UI is a bit clunky and anything trying to be wireless on the software side feels like Windows 95 called. I got it for the controls and a bigger sensor than on my Sony RX100 v1 which has a similar aperture (1/3rd faster) but also has zoom. I will say, as far as pocketable goes and bang for the sensor buck, to be honest, the Sony RX100 v1 blows the x100v out of the water. No, it doesn't have retro control knobs or filters in camera but its miniscule in comparison and shoots raw and has every control possible just not with cool looking knobs. I am sure I will get some great photos out of the x100v but I do think it is well overhyped (what I liked was the relative fast aperture, weather sealed (ish) with a filter, the built in nd filter could be nice, the controls and maybe the bigger sensor is better in low light). The video on it is, without IS, terrible frankly.

Great timing. I’m asking same question about x100f and x100v. Currently an A7R4 & Siii owner. All this talk about Fuji no think just shoot from your heart. Reality… $2.4k not sure.Nice to see my old hometown in your videos. Retired to Kamakura since 2021 and living life like a kid in a candy store here. Everything is new! Keep up the great videos. PS: Send an Aurelios pizza please!

Amazing video. I have been thinking about buying this cam but then I thought why wouldn’t I buy a Sony a7C with a 24mm f2.5 G lens… light compact and I always have an option to get a new lens if needed. If 35 mm lens was morethan enough I don’t think Fuji wouldn’t have introduced a 50mm tele Converter for this cam.

I just did a hike through Zion National Park a few weeks ago and was disappointed that my Panasonic compact didn't have as wide an angle as my LG phone! The pics from the phone just look compressed I don't even know if they'd survive being enlarged for framing. I just started looking for a new compact to have better and wider angle photos. I'd like to stick to compacts and the X100 V seems like a nice compromise. After watching your video I can understand why it's so sought after and out of stock.

I used to have a x100v and sold it for basically the same price before the hype went crazy. I liked the size, focal length and sharpness but I still felt like the images looked quite clinical/digital. I know that goes against popular opinion. The images just didn’t quite do it for me. So far I haven’t regretted selling it. I have other fun small cameras I use instead which I prefer: Fuji x-e2, Ricoh grii and a Leica cl.

I'm interest on the Leica cl, what's ur opinion on this camera ?
@krolldavid
@krolldavid Жыл бұрын
@@25thpyroo I love it. I have it with me every day now, usually with the 23mm lens. But it’s quite a bit more expensive together with a lens. The 18mm lens on it is also excellent by the way, I just usually prefer the 23mm field of view. Of course, there is no successor for any L mount apsc cameras at the moment. Having said that, I think the lenses could be still used on full frame bodies in the future like the sigma fp line. The CL is not perfect but I prefer it to the x100v. I prefer the feel of the photos and also colours, even just the way they come through with the adobe colour raw profile. I can’t see myself ever selling it. Oh, one downside with the CL is that you cannot connect it to your computer to use as a webcam for example.

I had X100V but sold it and later purchased X-T30 II because I wanted to have the freedom to change lenses as I need. Other than that, I liked X100V.

Love the V - it's the camera that's in my bag all the time. Same reasons - easy to carry, love the ND filter and the pics that come out. Very similar to the XE2 I have, which I could argue has even better colours (older sensor). A XE4 with the 18 or 27 pancake will be a great alternative if you can't afford/find the V.

I've had an X100T for several months, but sadly, I'm not in love. Picture quality is great of course, but you can say that for pretty much every digital camera these days. My main complaint is that it's not a truly "pocketable" camera, and I just find my X-T2 much more comfortable to hold and shoot with. With a small lens, the X-T2 isn't that much larger than the X100T. I also used to have an X-E2, to which I ended adding a bottom plate with a larger grip for more comfort - again, this combo ended up being nearly as big as the X-T2. (I had a very short fling with an X-S10 as well, got lured in by the built-in IBIS, but it felt like a plastic toy compared to all the other Fujis). For my needs, I can't imagine a better camera than the X-T2 (I'm sure I'd be happy with an X-T5, but of course I'll wait a few years to upgrade...)

I would love to get hold of a X100V, as a daily carry camera, no way I am going to pay double for one, so I just brought a Olympus C740UZ digicam from the early 2000s, very cheap and just fun camera to use, without the back pain from carrying a heavy Canon 5DIV with 35mm lens attached, my work camera!

The prices are really crazy. I could sell my X100F now for more than I've paid for it new when it came out. The main reason I'd upgrade to the X100V would be the weather sealing and maybe the titling screen. The inferior old lens on the X100F is more a X100V-hype-train argument than a problem in the real world. The lenses are identical apart from really close distance shots where you have to close the aperture a bit on the X100F to get the same result as on the X100V. This is not a bokeh monster anyway so I can live with that. So I'd highly recommend the X100F if you can get one for a reasonable price.

I owned the x100 and upgraded to the x100v whilst image quality is great after a few weeks i started disliking shooting with the camera: integrated shutter and iso button really hate it. Battery life is so-so and loads of focus issues. Instead i bought a Fuji XT30ii and now use the Ricoh GRIiix for everyday photography. Both these cameras really deliver for me. Most people often overlook the shooting experience. Which is the most important part of photography

I don't get why this is more hyped than let's say an XE-4 is. The XE-4 is literally this camera minus the rangefinder but has the benefit to change lenses.
