The usual Piers Ad Hominem Morgan, he's unwatchable. I want to hear about the meat tax but he is rudely talking over her (with his same clicheéd ignorance) for first 5 minutes. Get Earthling ED on to easily debunk his droll statements for good. (soy milk, avocados, quinoa, almonds, the lot.), and all Piers will do to try and dish dirt instead.

I don't eat meat every day, does that makes me a flexitarians? She talks about 12 years... What is supposed to happen after those 12 years if we do nothing? She sound like those crazy religious predicting the end of times without any solid evidence.

Evidence shows that vegan diets tend to have far lower carbon, water and ecological footprints than those of meat- or fish-eaters. People who follow a plant-based diet account for 75 percent less in greenhouse gas emissions than those who eat more than 3.5 ounces of meat a day, and a vegan diet also results in significantly less harm to land, water and biodiversity, according to new research from the University of Oxford.

I've never understood 'tax or charging' for 'bad things' it's either so agregious that you want to ban it, or you think it's ok to do as long as the person can afford the charge, pricing poor people out of everything, pick one.

Eh, it makes perfect sense to me in most occasions. Taxing cigarettes and high sugar products makes the consumer pay the true cost of them, paying off the increase in health issues and NHS spending their choices have. People should be free to make choices, but the costs of their choices should be reflected in the product. Caroline Lucas here is making a similar logical example for a carbon tax on meat. Any money spent on tax for meat can be used to subsidise lower carbon emitting alternatives, or to be used elsewhere paying now to make the world's future more bearable.

Because he kept interrupting her. Her whole point is to have better environmental agriculture policies that benefit the environment globally and locally as well as benefiting the local people. Plus she was making a point that we should at least try to reduce our meat consumption if we can or if we eat too much, you don’t have to be vegan. If you don’t want to stop eating meat that’s fine, I want to keep eating meat too… but we need better policies.
