The Republicans didnt want to sign the bill because it was called a border bill but it added funding to other causes. A majority of the money allocated was going to go to Ukraine and Israel and only a small portion was going to fund the border.

The reason that particular bill wasn't signed because it stated the borders wouldn't close until they had over 5,000 undocumented come across our borders EVERY Day for a week , so that is the Only way it would be triggered. That is Way too many and that's NOT checking their background at all!! The House came out with the bill HR2 a few years ago and they wouldn't pass it in the Senate and Biden wouldn't sign it either. That was a good border bill. Why didn't democrats pass it? Biden has the power himself to reverse his border decisions that he First made the first week of his presidency. Apparently he has a very short memory!

The bill also allowed a certain number of illegals to continue to across the border weekly (I think 5000) and provide a path to citizenship for the illegals that have come in and are coming in. That and the bill tying Israel and immigration to Ukraine funding is the reason Republicans would not sign the bill.
