The saddest thing about this is her mother abandoning her, and simply saying "What made me do it, I don't know. I was just determined to do it ... I really didn't know she obviously felt neglected." Utter selfishness and inability to see obvious consequences of her actions. Of course it made Ulrika feel neglected and probably caused her to attract to dysfunctional people and relationships. People with insecurity and fear of abandonment, are often attracted to instability and drama. They are addicted to the rollercoaster of emotional uncertainty.
