The rich man was very unsympathetic to the dilemma of Lazarus, offering him no love, help, or compassion. In time, they both met their mortal ends and passed on to the afterlife. Lazarus was welcomed into heaven, while the rich man was condemned to hell.
I visited Monaco in 2013 for a job interview. You can smell the money, and the garlic! For the record, I'm an humble South African electrician. I was met at Nice airport by a lady chauffeur from "Monaco Limo", driving a Mercedes limousine. She apologized profusely for not having collected me in the company helicopter, because it was being serviced. I toured around during the day, and spent the night at the Columbus Hotel. The following day, I went for the interview, before flying back to Johannesburg. Although I didn't get the job, this was the greatest highlight of my career! I was late for work, and when I explained that I had spent the weekend in Monaco, no-one believed me. Then I showed them the air tickets.

A very honest asessment of Monaco, if a bit too focused on wealth and playboys. I live in London and Monaco, and apart from a few 'special' times of the year (such as the Grand Prix) when people descend on Monaco to flaunt their cars and wealth, it's pretty much a straight forward place with locals going about their daily lives, and foreign residents integrating and very much low-key. In fact the majority of residents drive ordinary cars such as Toyota (even Prince Albert drives a Prius). My invitation is.....come in autumn/winter and see 'real' Monaco in a differnt light!

I must say after spending time in Monaco I felt awful I think the way it's built up against the mountain makes you feel really dizzy no matter where you go😂 My vertigo never recovered. I was there for a spectacular boat show and of course I did all the touristy things as well. One of the most beautiful views I ever saw was as I left Monaco heading towards Italy and we pulled into a fuel station where there was a lovely wall and as I walked up to it I could see Monaco to my right and Italy to my left and there was a little village town on the Italian coast that looked like something out of a fairy tale the water from the marble dust was a blue green clear crystal and the buildings were exquisite. Now that was a real view and I would love to go back there one day to actually visit the town itself. Be honest a far better view from the fuel station than I ever saw anyway in Monaco xxx

One of the true value of big money is to be where you want to be anytime. To walk into places and be served with expected high value choices, whether it be accommodation, food, or objects of desires. To walk away from fairweather friends, obtain those peace of minds-spaces and chose with all the time in your hands.
@bubz41962 жыл бұрын
yea but that's pretty much a fantasy even for billionaires. There is never such a thing as having all the time in your hands. If you have all financial stress taken care of, you then need to worry about mortality and disease. Man is born free but everywhere he goes is in chains. Another interesting thing to note - Shortly before his death, Steve Jobs said he would have surrendered all of the worldly wealth he had acquired for one more year on Earth. Unfortunately no amount of wealth can shield you from that.

You only have to be a resident in Monaco for 90 days per year to qualify for tax free status. Imagine that you have $200 million or so and earn 5% returns, that' s $10 million per year in income, all now tax free. If you become a resident in France, you lose $5 million per year, because they are going to take half. So yes, while real estate is cheaper in France, it comes at a high cost each year in taxes. Now if you are that rich you can have a nice $30 million apartment in Monaco, and buy a yacht or a villa to spend your weekends in nearby France. You can have both, you just can't live in France more than 183 days per year. Also, if you get bored hop in your Ferrari and Nice is 30 minutes away, Cannes 1 hour, or Turin and Milan 3.5 hours away. There's no tax haven on Earth that offers as much as Monaco, if you can afford it.

If billionaires have a problem of paying tax and because of that they decide to live in a tiny overpopulated Little Estate such as Monaco, they could always choose to live in Countries where even they have to pay tax they know how their money is used for. When people ask me where I come from. I very often get that awe reaction. I even feel intimidating until I correct them : it's not Monaco, it's MOROCCO !" Then I get that ' oh '

I really didn't want this to be true as I love the idea of Monaco so much but after spending three days there the place is soulless, everybody looks miserable.
@brucemarsico63 жыл бұрын
I suppose that could be true...I've never known many wealthy types to be 'laugh out loud' and overwhelmingly giddy. I've not spent time in Monaco, but I have in New York, and I wouldn't say that everyone looks miserable in the east eighties and ninties. There are a lot of snobs and power players and name droppers and a lot of bores. Money creates this. Nothing much to look forward to except for more and more money and possessions. Friends don't really exist, only the facade of joy. BUT...not every wealthy is like that.

I do agree with that! For some reason it feels claustaphobic and unhappy there

Monte Carlo is the European gambling capital part of the city-state of Monaco. The country is always unfit for bankruptcy.
