I agree with Peterson when she says there is a difference between addiction and dependence. As a senior, I'm on medication that will extend my life. I'm dependent on it, but I have no psychological or physical craving for it, in fact, I have to remind myself with an alarm to take it as prescribed. I would and could stop in a heartbeat if doctors or science told me I no longer needed it.

This is absolutely happening even here in Canada. Our temporary foreign worker program is driving hourly rates down. My last project I worked on had hundreds of foreign workers bring paid less that the industry rate. AND, if local Canadians wanted the jobs they had to work at a reduced rate. Accidentally developing a dependency on a prescription psych medication is definitely in a different category than addiction in the classical sense. The idea of drug addiction goes hand in hand with abuse of a substance and typically conjures the idea of being a “druggie” in people’s minds. During the opioid crisis of the 80’s, the drugs were marketed as non-addictive and prescribed en-mass, leading hundreds of thousands to become “addicts” and many died. However in that circumstance, I would not put those people into the category of addict as we think of them today. The nuance of the conversation was totally lost on Candace.

I am on H-1B and I know. There are some loopholes and H-1B needs reforms. The easy jobs in tech like web development, Javascript, QA testers should be filtered out. These jobs are entry level jobs which new college graduates can be easily trained and get started in tech. The problem is these jobs are being offshored. On the other hand there are several skills which are in dire need of skilled workers. For example in semiconductor industry.

Normally im with Candace but there is a difference between addiction and the physical dependence taking pharmaceutical drugs creates. The dependence can of course lead to addiction but dependance is taking a medication as prescribed never abusing it never drug seeking but your body becoming dependent on it so it spazzes out when you cease use. Absolutely adore both of these ladies but Mikhaila needs to stick to her usual subjects that she knows more about. The residents of Branson Missouri are living in squalor and even the bushes unable to get jobs while giant apartment complexes are up and they ship people in from foreign countries to work all of the jobs. Couldn't believe it was real so I went applying every place myself and did not get one single call back. America's camel hump is full of illegals right now we won't need to pull any fresh ones in for quite some time. Give jobs to Americans please! Out here in the real world I know a lot of people who try hard for jobs and they're just being given to foreigners without letting the Americans even try

Perhaps if Americans paid attention in school, and could write an intelligible paragraph with proper grammar, and could add a column of numbers and divide fractions, then they would be qualified for a job. Instead, you seem to contend they should be "given" a job just because they are Americans. In reality, business wants to give a job to those most qualified to perform. Simple logic.

Hmm… i love Candace I listen to her everyday but I think she was a bit unfair with the whole Jordan Peterson “addiction”. I don’t know the whole story, but wouldn’t an addiction imply that he was abusing it? If you’re prescribed a certain dose and that dose long term causes your body to be dependent on it making it hard to get off. That wouldn’t constitute addiction? Which does imply something completely different - so I’m on Mikhaila on that one.
