Fleet Foxes are certainly in a league of their own. I am proud to say that they hail from my state of Washington. Can't wait to backpack through the Cascades this summer, set up my camp, and turn on some Fleet Foxes on my phone and sit by the fire. I don't normally care for electronic devices when out hiking but having Fleet Foxes there to serenade the camp just adds to the experience. Way to be Fleet Foxes! You guys can do no wrong.

here in 2021. after many, many listens to the new album, "Shore". it is mind-blowingly good. yet, here I am. Shore feels more like a RP solo album, which is perfectly splendid. but here I am, on this video, missing the harmonies of RP + others. Robin is an all-time talent, but I love him even more as a "functioning cog in some great machinery."
@kevingarywilkes2 жыл бұрын
Interesting observation. Saw Fleet Foxes two weeks ago - and while it was a great show, what put me off somewhat was that Robin is fully aware of his popularity now, and he makes no secret about it.
@RockandRollWoman Жыл бұрын
@@kevingarywilkesHmm. Saw them two nights ago, and didn't get that vibe at all. They've been touring with My Morning Jacket, and I got the impression Robin was a bit in awe of that. But I'm far more interested in FF. Fifty years from now, which band will be more revered? FF reminds me of Crosby Stills and Nash (and sometimes Young), with shades of Simon and Garfunkel. The music is a lane of its own. And here I am, 60 hours after a show, and I can't get enough.

I was raised up believing I was somehow unique Like a snowflake distinct among snowflakes, unique in each way you can see And now after some thinking, I'd say I'd rather be A functioning cog in some great machinery serving something beyond me But I don't, I don't know what that will be I'll get back to you someday soon you will see What's my name, what's my station? Oh, just tell me what I should do I don't need to be kind to the armies of night that would do such injustice to you Or bow down and be grateful and say, "Sure, take all that you see" To the men who move only in dimly-lit halls and determine my future for me And I don't, I don't know who to believe I'll get back to you someday soon you will see If I know only one thing, it's that everything that I see Of the world outside is so inconceivable often I barely can speak Yeah I'm tongue-tied and dizzy and I can't keep it to myself What good is it to sing helplessness blues, why should I wait for anyone else? And I know, I know you will keep me on the shelf I'll come back to you someday soon myself If I had an orchard, I'd work 'til I'm raw If I had an orchard, I'd work 'til I'm sore And you would wait tables and soon run the store Gold hair in the sunlight, my light in the dawn If I had an orchard, I'd work 'til I'm sore If I had an orchard, I'd work 'til I'm sore Someday I'll be like the man on the screen

At least that's the word being shared by many music sites on multiple lists titled 'Most Anticipated Albums of 2014'. But there's no official word from FF. Yet. Just a somewhat cryptic photo posted on their FB page last June of a MacBook, sound board, mic, headphones, and guitar, titled 'Step One'. It's hardly anything to go on, but it's something.

No, it's common in live shows to alter the tempo of the studio version to give the song more variation
@siggyb7112 жыл бұрын
I kind of know what you mean in this performance--it kind of drags during the uptempo part-- but the Fleet Foxes are talented musicians who can produce a sound that is almost identical to the studio version, so I like it very much that they take the time to make their live performances sound different. One way they do that is by altering the tempo... if you've ever seen them perform The Shrine / An Argument, they slow the "apples in the summer" part quite a bit and I think it sounds incredible.
