On that day, Oliveira appearred on SCBOY's streaming as a guest commentator. At the begining, he predicted that Maru and Maxpax would meet at the final, and Maxpax would win. But nobody in the chat room believe him. When Maxpax got 0-2, he chatted with Oli between each game. Oli give him some advise to play agaist Maru. (For example, to overcome Maru's Double Proxy Barracks, Oli adviesd him not to scout with Probe, just build Zealot first then Chrono Boost the Stalker.)Oli also encourage him 'relax and believe yourself, you are the best protoss player in the world (Oli really think so)'. Just like a coach. (Bad news for maru) So that day Oli commentated in passion. And he was so happy to see Maxpax won. Looking forward that one day we could see Maxpax showing he skills at offline match.

Every game razor close. Awesome series. Some of the best SC2 I've ever seen. Maxpax blink micro is insane. Maru's boy pulls are nuts.

Thanks maxpax. For playing toss like broodwar toss. Up close and personal at terrans front door 🚪. Not allowing them to breath. The fact that the boys have to be pulled just shows you how broken terran is, but maxpax knows how to handle it. What maxpax did is extremely hard to do especially against maru. Credit to both of them. This will make maru even stronger and maxpax as well. Great series PIG!

I think it's understated how game-saving these 2 storms are at 28:35. Maru sort of splits at the first storm, then just runs his army through it, taking so much unnecessary damage. Then the second storm was so juicy, killing 8 marines and bruising half of the army. What this means is the medivacs don't have enough healing output to heal back to full, so each stim is basically free damage, meaning Maru loses that fight to overstimming and MaxPax doesn't lose much for it. Despite Maru trading very efficiently for the second half of this game, he still loses because he goes all-in and only has one base to show for it.

One of the best Series I've seen in a long while! There's something about the BO7 format that really adds to the excitement when you get a "narrative" building up over 7games! I'm kind of bummed not to see more Stargate play out of Maxpax however - I felt like for a while it was his signature style. Keep them coming!

This is why I personally don't play terran. It's like an mma fight. 2 black eyes Broken nose, Busted lip So in desperation you get a submission on your opponent and they tap out and you win. You still won, but you got handled just look in the mirror. Basically you can't keep relying on this trump card every time your down.

I know Maru lost, but it's great to see him competing at this level with a different pace. It seems he's trying to present the threat of early all-ins, so people can't just get comfortable against his god-tier turtle mode. I don't think he plans for this to be his permanent play style in big tournaments, but rather something he's practiced at in this level should he need it. I think he's testing the waters, getting the feel on when to do this aggressive style, & when not to. You gotta remember that when you play at this level, trying new playstyles in tournaments is the only way you'll know how viable different strats are. Kudos to Maru for understanding that he needs to be able to evolve out of comfort zone just like any other player.

I think PiG's tournament had just as good of games as the World championship at IEM Katowice. Huge congrats, I think all tournaments should switch to a Bo5 format and remove the Bo3. Premier tournaments should take note.

I didn't have time to explain since I was casting a battle, I meant specifically with probes. All Zerg's have been defending proxy marines with drones for their entire career so they're usually much better in this situation. Maxpax showed he got those skills though

Gresvan game is basic broodwar 101. Bringing in the heavy hitter stalker to terrans front door and pressuring until terran earns their expo or makes the unit to defend. This is what I've been dying to see.

I don't get it. Isn't Maru the king of late game, defense, and iron bank? Why would he deviate from his strengths? Edit: I know that he is trying to keep opponents off-balance, but maybe don't proxy rax quite so often? Isn't that just being predictable in a different way?
