Hi Jordan, You're doing well on your pigeon trapping. We like the new funnel trap, if that's what you call it, but it's what we call it. It should be good when they get used to it. Have you ever met up with the other guy who has the traps up there? It was good to see in the loft. How's the goats doing? Pigs head soon, we hope. if pigeons had to choose cracked or whole corn, which one is the best?
@JordansHarvest4 жыл бұрын
Mine seem to prefer whole, but the smaller kernels are best!
@bryanmaxwell76764 жыл бұрын
Whole corn. It handles rain better and the birds fill up quicker therefore more bait in the trap longer. You want to check it every 3 days. The more that start to go in the more it pulls others in.
@stephendekoning8024 жыл бұрын
Whole corn cheaper healthier lasts longer, popcorn attracts better, with wheat Milo millet safflower sunflower peas etc.. n layer pellets if you raise pairs per trap for of healthy bait birds that trap trained calm attract a whole lot more (board on top partly facing south overhanging attracts as seems secure safe place).

Don't forget to swap bait birds (hopefully two per trap), daily to every so many days do, covering at least part of trap, as stressed birds won't attract more hardly can as good as calmer healthier and cage tamed ones (I raise pairs from some nests on straight/mixed with 16% natural chicken layer pellets, so they get exceptionally greatly feather n eyes bright, and calm cage tame), and increases yields greatly. Also use panel trap doors or Bobs, two or three on each side, works better n no injuries escapes etc, rather than Sputnik shite (they work best on top for pigeons to drop down from top).

Your design on your door is not allowing you to catch the maximum amount of birds. It needs to be like the trap doors the racers use but the fingers need to be welded together. Contact me and I will send you a pic. I used to trap over 600 a week in 8 traps.
