A few years ago, I bought call of duty ghosts, and one day when I loaded up the game it gave me a pop up window for the call of duty championship. I had never heard of esports before that, but I watched it and I have been a fan of competitive gaming ever since, even competing for a few years. From a marketing standpoint, the #1 way to grow your brand is exposure. When X million people buy a video game, but only 2-3% of people know of competitive esports, it makes no sense NOT to include a feature advertising it inside the game. With more exposure comes more sponsors, better payouts, etc. I think IJ2 absolutely should include some imbedded advertising for esports. It would help the competitive scene immensely.

League of Legends actually does a great job of promoting it's esports in the game client, with adverts and esports team skins for characters. I agree with you and I think it could help the industry a lot if the major fighting games started to implements stuff like this. I think one of the reasons fighting game companies don't want to promote this stuff is to avoid scaring off the more casual or new players. Star Craft 2 had a big issue with intimidating newer players from joining because the series had a reputation for being hard. I see the same sorta reaction from my friends who don't play fighting games, with fighting games. So...I think they're much more focused on making their new games accessible and easy to get into, rather than competitive.

Even Street Fighter V makes it known when a huge tournement is coming up(whether it be on TV or Stream)the minute you press start and get to the menu. You are sent a message that covers the center of the screen. It isn't rocket science NRS. I agree 100% with Pig

Nicholas Claudio so does CSGO and LoL and what do you know? Those games are huge w esports in numbers. Viewership in inj2 is 1/4 of mkx

I agree with you 100% pig. I had no idea that the fgc existed until I came across evo 2014 injustice top 8 on KZbin. I hope nrs watches this and makes these changes to make big bucks for not only themselves but the competitors as well

Most of the ideas are great but again I am pretty new to the injustice scene so I don't really know much, the reason I got into playing this game was because of the thehackingfreak guy, I watched one of the pro series videos and I felt like I wanted to compete too so I moved on from skullgirls to injustice 2. Thanks for the video, subscribed, please upload more podcasts with pro players, also you have a great voice.

Sadly I feel like people just think oh it's just a video game it's meant to make side money not make a living. If you place first in every major tournament spending how u live maybe it'll payout but alot of people think that way oh it's just a video game not realizing all the sacrifices players go through to place even top 8

Hacking freak was my best discovery since i2 released he's on point when any matches come out or if i miss the stream. I totally agree with pig of the hut where on the options it will be great to have the event alert when tourneys happen but I'm sure the $ figures would be a big demand, maybe not as much just like pig described and wont be too crazy for the sponsorship and stuff showcased through online sources and play when it comes to the $ , but yeah it keeps you guessing lol. Idk if this made any sense hahaa sorry.

22:26 I love it too. Finally I don't need to tear my hair out because fukken Mahvel is going & 60% of the MKXL matches went off-stream. 25:09 As a hobby programmer myself I might say Twitch integration isn't that hard technically. Twitch player can be embedded even in a website. Injustice 2 already has internal video player for cutscenes so huge part of that is already there. The things they need to implement are UI stuff, twitch integration & alert system.

Halo did that, not as elaborate as you put it but they even implemented weapon skins with teams logos and stuff but you should check out how the tournament views went when they started to announce the events in-game, that should be interesting

Yes. Other games like League of Legends do exactly what you are talking about and is apart of the reason they are so big. Someone should hire you.

Pig you’re so smart honestly I love your podcast. Something to note. I think that the price distribution is really skewed. I don’t think 2nd and 3rd should get as much as first but I think if you made 7th you deserve more than fucking $500. If that means bringing the gap together then so be it. But you should at least get like $1500 imo. Also the fact that knicks is guaranteed more than foxy is fucked (not hating on knicks good on him). I feel so bad for madzin who only got top 8 once and has lost money. I also think sponsors should be better/more professional. I think it’s really weird when people are sponsored by an “organization” that has 80 followers on twitter. I think echo fox and noble are great sponsors and they are great because their managers took so much time to make them good.

TheHackingFreak is the NoobFromUA (dota 2) of the injustice scene. Would miss so many of the highlights if it were not for him. As someone from the Dota2 scene who follows a lot of Injustice Pro Scene as well, you guys have a lot to go in terms of reach.

10k prize where good in the 90's. Now a day when you see that you already know that the tournament will only pay top 3. Why do you think you see almost the same poeple at every tournament? Reason is simple it aint worth it if you dont live near it. Or it means that your are welling to spend a lot without having assurance to gain something out of it. Except hey! this guy was good...hope to see you (spend your cash) next tournament. And there is real issues with top tiers. Balancing is more looking like what is the next dc movie.. what character are popular or what movie is coming... ballancing is looking like publicity for the next movie/serie and not like actual balance. Having a character not able to fight an another because its a "bad matchup" is ridiculus.because it mean that you create character with flaws yet they create character with everything....wich dominate flawed one...and lets not talk about interactible.

There are other ways to make a profit off of Esports then just hoping you win every tournament. many other Esports gamers especially shooters, will have KZbin channels and they'll stream regularly and that usually generates a good source of income but for whatever reason most nether Realm players don't do those things so it's their own fault

Hey +Pig of the Hut, not sure if this was discussed but If eSports players don't make much on prize money at events, could streaming and content creation like twitch and KZbin help with net gains? I see dink who's ranked in the top 50s and even casual players are doing pretty well with viewership on KZbin (not that I can speak on their finances) although demonetization must hurt now How about this solution: Instead of just having dead air or people sitting around reading texts on their phone during the ESPN TV Commercial break, could you minimize the screen and include an advertisement window to broadcast commercials on some of these live streams? NRS/WB and others can then share some ad revenue with players. You would then need a players union like traditional sports and bargain for how much revenue is shared.
@aviansays7 жыл бұрын
Also, They are starting to advertise shows as multiverses GOTHAM premier was advertised this past week. They could literally do that and just plug-in tournament information.

Why you stay salty for? If players wana travel and support the scene/game why do you even care? When you won that 4 person tourney when the game dropped you were excited and said you were going hard on this game. Then reality set in and showed that you can't keep up with the evolved scene without a broke character, and now you salty and wana retire all of a sudden. Thanks for the laugh.
@pighut7 жыл бұрын
unfaithfully yours I'm salty for the players who dropped education, jobs, sold their car, etc because they banked everything on playing video games and making money when in the end they're left w nothing and major losses. I won't name specifics because that's intrusive but trust me I talk w everyone, connected to every part of this scene and in the end many people suffered major losses for your entertainment

unfaithfully yours this dude literally has a wife, kids, job that pays more than tournaments, and cares about his physical fitness, and has already made top 8 at evo, but you think he's salty because an online random named "unfaithfully yours" thinks he is copping out for not wanting to dedicate a full time jobs worth of time towards a career that leads to chump change. Wow

unfaithfully yours if it's easy to be the best in the world with broken characters, I'll be here waiting for "unfaithfully yours" to be at top 8 in evo. You said it easy yourself, "FACTSS". So I'll be here waiting. Not going to waste my breath on you anymore. You're obviously a salty teenager. "Factssss"
