The most common problem is that the foot on top (not the swooping leg) is coming down fast and before you even lift off your hand. This is causing you to get 0 lift because it cancels out! I see this on almost EVERY video sent to me regarding airflares for people who are getting like 0-1.5 airflares in the beginning/ intermediate stages of learning!
