It Took Me 32 YEARS To Catch This ENDANGERED MONSTER!!! (We Were SHOCKED)

What would you do if you went fishing on the big river and caught a 54 pound blue kitty? I know what I would do.. Or I know what I did? Either or, past or present , back to the river we go. When fishing with cut bait, you kinda sorta have a good idea what's gunna be at the end of your line once you hook up. It's almost always some sort of catfish, and occasionally a drum, bass, or pike. My first hookup of the day however turned out to be a HUGE SURPRISE! PAAA POWWW!!!

No they're way common than people think. Certain times of the year we catch em consistently on crawlers. Seen em twice as big as he caught but most of the time they average about that size.

I was paddle fishing off the shore where the Yellowstone river meets the Missouri river up here in North Dakota and the DNR came in from netting palid sturgeon and had a couple big ones in a big tank on the boat. They loaded them in a big tank on a truck to take to the fishery to milk the eggs when they were ready to drop. It was pretty cool and i snagged a 76 pound paddle that day also great memory. Great job on cacthing one bud!

Was blessed enough to get to go Sturgeon fishing at the mouth of the Columbia River 10 years ago as my graduation gift from my father.... first ever sturgeon we hooked was a monster and crossed off my bucket list fish. That sturgeon was badass. I've only ever caught a lake sturgeon from shore in the upper peninsula of Michigan. It is the biggest fish I have ever caught at 48". Not a fight at all. I thought it was a snagged log until I felt the tail kick.

Back in 2012 when the Platte was real low we hit a couple pools just chalk full of sturgeons. It was crazy. But most of the pools just had dead sturgeons from no oxygen. Was sad.
