I am almost 46 and I am watching this and it's making me cry. My mother went through something similar and it drove her to helping foster children. By the time she stopped taking children in (2006, after 30 ish years) she had helped over 250 girls including myself and a few boys. She taught me many things. One of which was to always respect your mother (or mother figure in my case) because one day you won't have them.

My mum kicked me out when I was about 16 too. I walked miles and miles and eventually found out I could get free shelter from a homeless teen thing. So I went and they told me they would need to confirm I was homeless so they phoned my mum and she told them I was lying and she had no idea what I was talking about... 😭 So basically, I was kicked out of home and then kicked out of the homeless place. I was lucky that I knew about a bush that didn't let too much rain through and was quite hidden on the mountains.

TELL MORE STORIES ABOUT HIM
@BrookeLynne7 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a relationship I was in for 3 years (it was controlling and abusive) and it caused me and my parents to constantly fight, it also caused me to lose all my friends. Steven sounds exactly like my ex (saying that the wanted to kill my father, my dad and I are close) I moved last summer away from him and started a new school, he would constantly tell me that if any guy talked to me he'd come find me and kill the guy who talked to me. Close to the end of the relationship in November 2016 I found out he cheated on me multiple times throughout the relationship... but almost 8 months out of the relationship I'm with a better guy who respects me and my family and treats me like a queen. But any-who Sam you are an amazing person and a huge inspiration! Keep doing you girl ❤️❤️!

I love these story times from you. I was in an extremely toxic relationship for almost 2 years and I destroyed myself and my family. My grandmother is my best friend and raised me since my mother passed and I disrespected her and my grandfather so much when I was with my ex and at the time I thought they were so awful for trying to help better me and get me out of the relationship. I am so happy that they finally helped me get myself out.

Couldn't "Steven" be charged with sexual assault of a minor? Since she was 16 and he was 23 and they were having intercourse?. I think that's the real idiocy of the situation. Not only did he threaten her mother, and she not do anything about it. He touched her and her mother did nothing. I think 16 is a mature enough age to know when someone is abusive or threatening. I'm 15 and even if I loved a 23 year old man, I know that I could and would not let him touch me. And my parents would kill me and him if we did so. I'm no parent and I'm not saying that her parents aren't good parents but to let your daughter continue to see a 23 year old man, whose making death threats and having sex with your 16 year old daughter? I would've drove my kid myself down to the homeless shelter, with the tote bag, and said "come back when you're mature enough and not seeing a pedophile, abusive, man" And then because she goes to school it means she's a good girl and all is forgiven? For pete's sake she went to school because she had no where else to go besides hanging out with alcoholics and people smoking pot. I mean come on. It's not even just about your own safety, he's making death threats and hanging out with you alone. Seems a bit sketchy. *UPDATE* I know the age of consent in Canada is 16

The Black Canary When youre 16 and someone is giving you that attention and making you feel loved, you have tunnel vision. I can tell by the way you worded your comment you've never been in a abusive relationship so dont judge her or her decisions at that time. I was in an abusive relationship when i was 16, he was 21. He manipulated me into believing he loved me, and he was more important than anyone else in my life. Nothing anyone told me about him made a difference. These types of relationships are not black and white. I hope for your sake you are never in one nor do you ever have a child in one.

Samantha, thank you for sharing this. It helped me a lot. I've never been through this but my mom recently got out of an emotional/mentally abusive relationship and he was like this towards my whole family. He called her names and put a gun to her, etc and called me names and threatened me because he didn't want me and my mom to have a relationship and of course, she agreed with him because she was being manipulated. We aren't close anymore really because I'm finding it hard to forget about it and I know it takes time but I felt rushed to forgive them and this video helps me realize that I'm ready to forgive when it comes. It will come at the right time. Thank You for sharing this and I'm glad I saw this ❤ I hope you're having a good day!

This reminds me of my first boyfriend. I got with him at 15, he was 17 and schizophrenic and I thought If I left I was evil because I loved him and thought I had to support him through his mental illness but he wouldn't help himself. Like he would purposely not take his medication. He used to punch me and say things to upset me and he cut me with razor blades and threatened me with an axe. It was crazy and after we split up 2 years later I found out he cheated on me with boys and girls. So going to get an STD test at 17 and heartbroken was pretty traumatic and I had no one to talk to because I lied to everyone about how happy I was. It's not worth it and my mum knew better.

The signs of an abusive guy is when he does not respect your parents, does not want you to be with your friends & family. Tries to keep you all to himself. It's creepy & run when you start seeing those signs. Get out quick!! Bc if not, it can be sooo hard to get out even dangerous. Don't follow your heart all the time bc our hearts can be deceiving.

Girl I've been there, - this story is what I did and thought and it sounds just like the guy I was with.. a loser. 23, lived at home, didn't work, my parents hated him. I chose him over then and I regret it SO much. My mom aged about 10 years in my absence. Her baby girl left her. I thought I knew it all and that she was just a biotch. As teens we think we know everything and we almost can't help it. It's hormones or A newfound independence maybe. Friends and boyfriends become our family and we leave our parents behind who would do ANYTHING for us. I chose to be poor. To work full time and struggle. He spent my money on video games. And then I got pregnant. Who do you call when sh*t goes down? Your mother. Thank god she was still there for me.. cause he sure wasn't. Long story short, I left him a couple years later when I realized my parents were right. I apologized to them endlessly. My parents took me back in until I got my own apartment.. my mom is my best friend. I'm so thankful. They helped me here and there with my ADHD child. (She is/was a handful and doctors visits are so costly, but she's also such a blessing and my angel for waking my ass up). I'm so blessed. It's been years now.. I did find a good man after I learned to love and support myself. My mom and I talk every day. She's my best friend and I'm her best and only friend. Parents are a blessing. Not everyone has them and that makes me sad. Please don't take our road and take it from us.. your parents may be annoying and sometimes take out stress on you (as long as they don't hurt you),but they love you. Family and your own self are the only ones that will be there for you no matter what. I don't have ANY of the same friends I did in middle school, high school etc.. but I have my family. And that's more than enough. Love and respect yourself before you put your love and trust on others.

I dated a much older guy when I was 17, he was 25 I believe. He waited til I was 18 to date me but he was still like some weirdo cause he REALLY liked younger girls lol. I moved to TX with him in 2015 and lived there on & off for 5 months. Everyone knew that he was off & I didnt want to believe that he was toxic so I ignored all my friends and even family. I didn't talk to my parents the whole time I was in TX. He kicked me out of the house then I went back to my hometown. Just goes to show that it's never worth losing family or friends because of some man.

So so helpful. Thank you so much for this video, it's what I've been needing to hear tbh. Especially the part at 6:00

I can relate. My baby daddy ruined my life. My mom told me from the get go he was bad news but of course I didn't listen. 4 years later guess who is helping me raise my son? Yup, family. I even moved 4 hours away from my family to be with him ugh. It was such a toxic relationship. I finally had to leave. Slowly, I am learning to value and see my worth even if no one else does. Love yourself!
