Except what Ratatouille depicts is actually a great visualization of senses, and not just with food either. If you play with music enough you'll actually start to envision those swirls as you play, and how you play changes the color and intensity of said swirls. It's kind of cool really. Slower parts of songs tend to be bluer, while more lively bits turn the blue to purple, then red, then a yellow or even green. This was a sidetrack but your comment prompted it haha. I've yet to "trip on acid" so I don't know if stuff like this animation is accurate too.

It happens to people completely sober (albeit more rarely) but the enhancement of neural pathways when on psychedelics makes it apparent even if you don't have it naturally. I've tasted music tripping one time (a little bit too intense of an experience that time) that also was associated with color. Very cool stuff, I honestly would imagine that people who work with music/instruments often probably experience it more frequently than those who don't.
