I just find it fascinating with how native-sounding and clear Pikamee's English is she still struggles with finding specific words. Just shows she learned Japanese first, yet I would totally believe she's a native English speaker. Granted, "ladle" is kind of a specific word, I don't think some Americans or other native English speakers would know what that is off the top of their head.

I speak fluently in 3 languages and honestly not being able to find the right word is big mood Like fuck I either need to describe the thing or ask "Bro what is the _ word for _ again?" so many times in my life Same thing with people I know, classmates and such know that I'm really good at English so they always ask me for the English equivalent for a word.
@エズカイレズ4 жыл бұрын
Pikamee said that she learns english first but since they moved to japan she had to learn japanese, lost her english speaking capability and had to re learn. Maybe thats why she can speak without any japanese accent. Also, its very normal not being able to find the right word if you are multi lingual. Most people in my country can only speak one language, but on reddit they can speak 2 language (the country main language and english). Its much easier to chat there as some phrases although having the same meaning have different vibes when said out loud. So many people there switch the language halfway into the sentence which may siund weird but i also unconsciously ends up doing it as well
@asdffjsdjasd4 жыл бұрын
@@エズカイレズ This makes sense. Accents have more to do with how/when you learn a language than anything else. Even of you stop speaking the language there's a physical development aspect that doesn't really go away. Also, I'm not entirely convinced ladle was even the word she was looking for. I think wooden spoon was correct but I can't find a picture of Piglet with one to confirm that.

Honestly American pronunciation is just so much easier than British. I say it as a non-native speaker.
@nanotsuki4 жыл бұрын
@@KanchiPanchi i've even seen some japanese using da hood accent, when asked why they said "this accent doesn't pronounce the R sounds strongly like british accent so its easier" lol. Imagine a Japanese talking like that
@rade-blunner78244 жыл бұрын
@@nanotsuki British accent doesn't pronounce strong R sounds though, British English is non-rhotic, while American English is heavily rhotic. Japanese is, by its very nature non-rhotic since it isn't even possible to end words with an R sound, so as an English person, hearing the Japanese try to speak with an American accent going OVERBOARD attempting to convey R sounds is kinda irritating to me, for the most part they'd sound more natural just sticking with their Japanese accent.

If Pikamee is reading this: pronounce "ladle" like "paddle," but the "a" is pronounced like the name of the same vowel, /ei/ like in "late". Edit: actually, here's a better one; ladle rhymes with cradle!

I dunno why but the food kinda taste better with wooden utensils. Maybe unlike the plastic there are no unwanted chemicals and unlike metal it doesn't scratch my pan. If the pan is scratched then it has that black very small amount of residue that can affect the food. Or maybe the the natural taste is just so good.

I thought the title read "Wooden Ladies", and clicked to find out what the hell that even is. Somehow this is even stranger. Also, I'm familiar with wooden spoons, but do they actually makes ladles out of wood? Aren't ladles the long, deep spoons you use to dip broth or gravy up? I'd think wood wouldn't be a good material for that.
