Theres no better way to catch pike than from the surface, i find i hook more if i dont strike at the take and just keep winding until i feel the fish then strike, easier said than done, especially when they strike out of no where, ask Jamie Murrey

Jacks love frogs, bigger pike loves rat. A tip, spro bronzeye popper frog. Such a good lure. Or SG rat with bend lip to be a wake bait. Had a 15.7 on the second cast, day after 4 big jacks 7 - 10 lb. So much fun

A buddy of mine once told me that with top water lures wait a few seconds before you strike, similar to dead baiting, get more hook ups then, I've tried it and it does work to be fair.

It can be fished right over heavy weed, but it can also be allowed to drop into holes and twitched, which is deadly.
