Pike Fishing On A Hard Winters Day Using Deadbaits

I NEVER use a float leger setup..... for me, it allows too much slack line before you get a good indication (Obviously, in some places its a necessity)... I use a simple running leger and I ALWAYS pop up my deadbaits... for me, it gives a more positive bite because the pike isn't faffing around in the weed trying to lift the bait while yer alarms beepin away ... also it helps to some degree with avoiding the crayfish.. A big thing too is to point your rod directly (& I mean DIRECTLY) at your bait, this will vastly increase the sensitivity and you can then LOWER the alarm sensitivity to counter the wind / waves, stopping annoying false alarm beeps, and yet still get great bite-detection... it also reduces resistance through the rod eyes helping catch shy-biters... if you have your float set correctly its loads better than ledger set up can even tell when a pike is swiming round your bait we do ledger set up for long distance if you watch our videos u will see we never have slack line seen some video where they use the float wrong by having slack line not sure why they use that method....thanks for the feed back and info on the ledger set up....
