Ich habe Rick in der Mayfly Time, allerdings am Abend, Keanes Bar, beim Bier getroffen. Zu dieser Zeit hatten wir die grössten Hechte, wirklich grosse Fische, über 120cm, an der Fliegenrute. Beim drillen von 3 bis 5pfünder Brown trout. Quer im Maul.. war jedesmal ein riesen Spektakel. Diese „Grossmütter“ öffneten aber jedesmal das Maul, wenn sie den Kescher im Wasser sahen. Darum wurden sie auch so gross und alt! Würde ich jemals das Hechtfischen im Lough Derg versuchen, ich würde nur Köder ab 30cm benutzen. Wo diese Fische zu finden sind? Siehe oben…….

That's what I call a decent pike angler cutting the hook off and handing fish in .Far too many pike anglers prefer to save the hook in fact the majority do .I also have seen lots of damage to fish when so called top anglers net lure caught fish .Nets damage fish and I don't care what excuses people use it's fact .Can't understand why they don't do it maybe they are scared of losing it and not getting their trophy shot .Great video and proper pike fisherman 👍

Thanks carpman6495, you are absolutely right, nets do a load of damage to the pike's outer protective slime layer. I have never used nets and I never will. And if I lose a fish because of that, who cares? You are so right, these days it's all about the picture, preferable with the bait in its mouth so they can use it for sponsoring..On the subject of cutting hooks: If you are a true fisherman, you cut at the slightest doubtful hook up. Hooks are cheap, pike are not..Thanks for your reaction!

That’s why nets these days are different. Don’t damage the fish at all, especially when wet. You can also keep fish in the net in the water when unhooking instead of suffocating in the air and you’re not supposed to touch the gills, which happens when you handle the fish by hand. Gills have hard covers for a reason. Also I am not so sure that lifting a 10kg fish just by it’s jaws is good for it.
