Pike Gazette floats.....

A wee request from my good friend Barrie Lee Cullis of Predator Bites UK (here on KZbin,,,look him up) to see if I could show how I do Pike floats.....I have chosen to start of with the iconic Gazette.
I will turn, seal and then paint this float and describe what and why as I go along.

to get a wider kerf (@14.07) you could try using 2 hack saw blades together side by side, would cut lovely on balsa

were can I get one of the tools that you make the hole in the wood at the start of the project. I really like you work.

hi Will, I make all of these tools myself as they aren't commercially available. I was shown this one in particular by a fellow floatmaker. Basically it is thin walled brass tubing I bought from ebay. I then just turned a wee handle to hold it. Just get the diametre of tubing closest, but smaller, than the diameter of the stem material you wish to use. Graeme.
