Purple and White Onions

This is still a work in progress of mine, but to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of pikmin 251 as well as my discord server reaching 1000 members, I wanted to post a video about this early!
This hack is only aiming to do the basics of making a fully functional purple and white onion, but I'm hoping people make their own pikmin 2 romhacks that are balanced around these! As of right now its just about as overpowered as it sounds.

Bulbmin are kinda unnecessary with unlimited purples. Who needs elemental immunities when you can just throw purples at it until it stops moving? Aside from poison traps and Fiery Bulblaxes, I guess.

Tbf with infinite Bulbmin, Red and Blue Pikmin would be completely worthless imo, and the purpose of Yellows and Whites would diminish as Bulbmin can deal with all hazards themselves, they’re OP above OPs, all you would need is Purples, Bulbmins, and some occasional Yellows and Whites if there are treasures in high places or buried underground

I think a good addition as a mod would that if Bulbmin could be brought out of caves then they should replace the Purple or White Pikmin in the Hocotate Ship so that they can be stored.

The bulbmin onion is much harder to implement because it doesnt have onion menu and stuff while purples and whites did (because of the rocket) so it will probably not be added, and if it is its not anytime soon

PikHacker already hade to make a custom BLO file without knowing how they work, and even without knowing, he still managed to pull it off, so maybe in a few months to a year, maybe it could be worked on

The original onions were so cool. In pikmin 3 They barely look like onions until they mature. And they lose the cool pattern on the side almost entirely.

Impressive work. I’m impressed that you managed to make two separate Onions without much fault. I think I have an idea when it comes to balancing this out. (just my idea, by the way) ・You must discover those two Pikmin in the cave before you get to discover their Onion. In Purple Pikmin’s case, it can reside somewhere near the Chance Totem area; in White Pikmin’s case, it can reside somewhere near the Complex in the Valley of Repose. ・Special pellet colors can only grow in the same area as where the Onion are first discovered. ・The pellets can only bloom every even day (Day 2, 4, 6,...) AFTER you discover the Onions, and they must be far from the base (though not too far for Purple’s case). And that’s about it. Other than that, good luck with your work.

You say this is only the basics, but I'm just loving the minor details you put in - namely how they circle the ship on the world map (it's even spaced correctly between all 5) and that they swoop in during the landing scene; I loved Pikmin 251 when I played it recently, and I'm glad to see Pikmin has an active scene, even after all this time

We can see here that Pikmin with no Onions can be given Onions and pellet colors to go along with them, and Pikmin 251 showcases the ability to create new Pikmin types without an Onion, so being able to create a new type with an Onion could be a very real possibility.

I think a good way of balancing purple's in this scenario is straight up removing the ground pound and making them only carry 5, in exchange of making them a bit faster
