Just as a tip for the next area, the cave near base is called the Citadel of Spiders and even though it doesn't say you need whites you hould take a few otherwise you'll miss a treasure. It's a good idea to use the white pikmin to carry things back since they're so much faster than other pikmin types. Purples might be bad to use against the burrowing snagret since they're slower and easier to pick off.

Later on in the game there will be traps in dungeons, like rocks falling from the sky, that trigger once and only spawn when you have pikmin following your captain. So my advice is to bring 1 white pikmin with you whenever you do recon on the floor.

ZachNyeScienceGuy I discovered while replaying the game just today that I was wrong about that, there were traps that occured with just captains and then some that went off after I had pikmin. I don't remember that being the case before, but it has been a long time since I last played, so I must have just forgotten about that. Pikmin is one of my favorite series and I still learn new things, that's pretty cool.

Olimar and Louie are immune to poison since they wear space suits. I mean heck, the normal air is poisonous to them already! For Burrowing snagrets (bird-snake), sometimes when it comes out of the ground it gets stuck and its head is on the surface for a few seconds, swarm everyone on it for massive damage. The laying down and having pikmin carry you back was in the first game too as just a hidden easter egg. Pretty useless though... When you get a treasure, on the screen where the ship names it, you can rotate it with the control stick. I dont know, just a little thing I like to do.

Don't bother with corpses in caves, they don't really do anything. Exception: if the health bar doesn't vanish, CARRY IT BACK IMMEDIATELY. It's a regenerating enemy, and it must be destroyed.

There are some traps in dungeons, such as falling bomb rocks, and to make it worse some only activate when you have at least one pikmin with you. So sometimes it pays to just run around the area with a single pikmin to activate all the traps.

Tip: Enemies will not respawn if you continually visit an area without going to a different map. However, giant pellets and nectar act the same.

Just a warning, later dungeons will have surprise enemies that will only appear if you have Pikmin with you. So there still may be more enemies even if you have a captain explore ahead of the Pikmin.

Even though I'm sure you are aware, now you have white Pikmin you should inspect areas where the treasure radar is beeping but there doesn't appear to be anything around. You might need whites to dig treasure out of the ground. An example of this is near your ship on the flower pots. Also I would inspect those sounds of fighting if I were you. You might discover something useful.

I appreciate the lack of a time limit in this one. Makes the run feel more leisurely so far, and even though Purples and Whites are a little harder to replace, it doesn't feel like as big a deal since you have as much time as you need to do it. So Stephen has less of a reason to freak out about Mal following his directions when it backfires. Then again, that was also more because Stephen thought he knew what he was doing. Stephen's better when he knows he doesn't know what he's doing. Fun ride so far!

You shouldn't just throw them into the mouth of the enemy of course but you don't need to be afraid of using them, just treat them like you would any Pikmin, with care but also use them to their full potential

@@bakigrant5731 that's what I stated earlier, while you shouldn't toss them into the enemy mouth and sacrifice them they do run really quickly which is useful for transporting treasure and is good for avoiding certain bosses attacks and if a few get eaten, which will inevitably happen, they will deal damage to the enemy. So having a healthy amount of whites certainly isn't bad and can be quite useful during certain times

As a heads-up Stephen, Red Pikmin do 3/4 the damage that Purples do upon normal hits. The only time that purples far exceed the damage of Reds is when you throw them, for when they first land they'll deal x3 damage, thus doing 4x the damage of a normal red pikmin.

In my opinion, the White Pikmin are the best Pikmin in the game. They're fast, have the same strength as a normal Pikmin despite being small, hurt enemies when eaten, can dig up items, and are immune to poison. But of course the best part is how dang cute they are! :D

the purple sheergrubs (the little things you swarm with your pikmin every time) are male, and very deadly. of they get a pikmin, they are almost 100% sure to kill them...so through all the purples, THROW, don't swarm

You have plenty and the main time to use them would be against bosses. and an intresting tip you can obviously swap between which colour Pikmin you through but you could also cycle through weather they were a leaf/bud/flower. You can do this, I belive, if you press down on the dpad while holding a pikmin.

So, the glove treasure you got is pretty useful. If you have two captains together, and a good group of pikmin at base, but don't want to walk all the way back, you can split the captains up, hold c while near a small group of pikmin, it will carry the sleeping captain back to base, while the other captain can keep exploring. It is VERY useful in multitasking, and I use a lot in my exploration.

Always be careful if your Pikmin are carrying a treasure and taking a new route that you have not explored yet. There are a lot of dangerous things that aren't in plain sight and your Pikmin are extremely vulnerable while carrying treasure.

Seriously though, I can't complain since that went a lot more smooth than I was expecting. But for future reference, try sacrificing a single white one of these times and see what happens. Then you'll see why they're useful against Snagrets. Also spicy sprays....since you can farm them you really need to use spicy sprays more. If nothing else, always use a spray in boss fights. They are really useful for tough fights. Though they can also be used to speed up tasks like a small group of white Pikmin tearing down a gate.

During all this time it's taken you to get to this point I already restarted and finished 100% Pikmin 1 and am 2-3 days away from clearing Pikmin 2, and at this point I'm willing to bet money I can do it again. :V Anyway, here's some more advice: -Captains don't get hurt by poison since they're wearing space suits. -White pikmin deal the same damage as blue and yellow, so they don't suck at fighting, but you're still better off using others. Also, they are so fast they make for great scouts when you just wanna get the layout of a floor with a small group of pikmin and are almost always safe when carrying back light treasures. -Even if a cave has no poison hazards, take a few whites because there can be buried treasure that only they can dig. -You WILL be fighting the Snagret a LOT, trust me. There's even a cave filled with them. Hell, the cave is named after them! However, just like the final boss of the previous game, in this one they're a joke: wait for its head to *get stuck on the ground* for a few seconds and then spam purples on its head. It will die in one or two cycles. Same will apply for another similar yet significantly more dangerous and scary boss. If its head pops out quickly, retreat and wait for another opportunity. -It's a good idea to stock up on potions, both red and another one you will find. Generally I save the red potions for bosses, or to speed up certain tasks if I have many of them. -Lastly, you can go back to some caves to farm for purples and whites. There's a certain cave in Valley of Repose where I prefer to do this. And you will have to get 100 purples if you want to clear the game 100%. Also... the bridge... hnnng... why... why didn't you build it? o_e

Some tips: 1. Seriously, don't even bother carrying corpses back in caves. You guys are going for 100% so the corpses aren't going to help at all. All it does is send a bunch of Pikmin back to the ship who can be useful later in the floor. You don't want to be going back and forth to the ship because all your Pikmin were carrying corpses. As for enemies who regen health, you'll know what they are when you see them as their life bar comes back after they die. Only a few types of enemies regain health, and those ones yes you want to take back to the ship. 2. If you need your Pikmin to get from one place to another fast use the red potion. Not only does it boost their attack, but it also boosts their speed and makes all Pikmin in your squad flowers. 3. White Pikmin deal the same damage as Blue and Yellow Pikmin, and if they get eaten they'll deal damage to the enemy. 4. White Pikmin carry objects faster and Purple Pikmin slow them down. If you need to get a treasure to the ship quick, use the Whites. 5. Sometimes Potions come out of eggs. When this happens, you can position one captain directly in front of it, use the other captain to push them into it and then quickly collect also with the second captain. This way you get two potions. 6. You don't have to listen carefully for the sound when you clear a floor. The radar on the bottom right goes dead.

That's a common misconception, purples actually have the same carrying speed as all other Pikmin aside from whites. It's just that if you, for example, use one purple to carry a Bulborb (which usually takes ten Pikmin to carry), they'll carry it at a tenth of the speed compared to if you just used ten reds. So the purple's characteristic of being slow on the field doesn't affect their carrying speed, but their strength does not accommodate for it either, which is what confuses most people.

Therefore, with my experience, if they care enough about it, the best way to maximize treasure movement is to throw just enough purples to lift the object and then swarm whites until no more can carry it. This is what I know to be the fastest way to get things back to the ship.

Not that bad. Their flower varient have something like 3/4 the speed of a white leaf pikmin in 2. As white pikmin are the fastest varient in 2, this means that purple pikmin have somewhere between 1/3 - 1/2 the speed of a white pikmin of the same rank, aka close to 2/3 - 3/4 of the speed of a normal pikmin. I'm unable to find exact numbers and am having to use estimations based on videos, as I don't have access to my game right now.

Ah yes, the Napsack. The best item in the game. It does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Captain just falls asleep, doesn't regenerate any health whatsoever, although you'll notice that Pikmin can carry you back to the ship or the Onion, even if you won't fit in there. Purely aesthetic pleasure, which makes it the best thing ever.

Make sure you always bring like 10 white pikmin into caves, so that you never miss any underground items. Also tougher enemies that eat pikmin can be easily killed by feeding them whites, because when something eats a white they take damage. I think it takes either 6 or 8 whites to kill something.

I think now is a good time to mention why you should take all colors of pikmin into a dungeon, regardless of what hazards there are. purples for combat whites to get hidden treasure yellows for high ledges blues because the hazard list can lie about no water and reds to turn into purples or whites if there's no fire also, the hazard list MAY not include enemies that utilize elements. I'm not sure, though.

Quick tip: if you want to check if you lost any pikmin of any given color, call all of them onto your squad and pause the game, you can see how many pikmin of each color are with you. Good work today. Remember that you should worry about actually getting things done instead of making a day last an episode. I'm sure you've learned that by now anyway. Don't spend too much time collecting berries now that you have eight spicy sprays by the end of this episode, and there are the free sprays that you run into while exploring, where you can use the push-idle-captain-into-it duplication glitch. The Burrowing Snagret definitely could have gone much easier. With caution, you can swarm its beak when stuck and finish it in a matter of seconds.

Use purples to fight the burrowing snagaret. Throw purples at it when it's head gets stuck in the ground. And I have been playing this since you guys started and I have realized that personally I think the bosses are actually the easiest part of the game, the hard part of the game is getting down to the boss. Especially in The Hole of Heros because there are many bosses in that cave and it is seventeen floors, the deepest dungeon. Also I will say this to all of you bulbmin ONLY appear in The Frontier Cavern, The Submerged Castle and the Hole of Heros. The only one I have ever ever had I use for them is the Submerged Castle (Aka the cave with the water wraith) because it is the only cave in the game where you can't take every color so they are completely useless in The Frontier Cavern, and The Hole of Heros because you can take every type of Pikmin into them. And what makes them even more useless is you can't even take them out of the dungeon. Queen candypop buds are just as useless unless you have lost Pikmin in the cave and you can easily birth Pikmin on the surface.

Should've mentioned it last time, but you don't need to worry about the sound anymore. Now you can tell when the treasures are all taken by the meter in the bottom right. When it's colorless, there is no more treasure on the floor.

If you find yourself with time at the end of the day, instead of going to sunset, you could just put all of your Pikmin away and go explore areas you haven't been to so you know what you need tomorrow. Also, when marching Pikmin at nectar, get close and point at the nectar, not in it's direction. You want the Pikmin to clump together, not walk in a uniform line.

Keep an eye on that treasure radar. If it pings without a visible treasure nearby, that means something's buried.

Stephen remember the white pikmin are the Suicide Bombers. Not saying that you should use them like that. But it's a thing.

This is not really a tip but, if you look at the area where the red berry plants grow, you may recognized something (that area is the landing zone from Pikmin 1 for the Garden of Hope

Under no circumstance would I recommend going into a dungeon without a squad of 100 (or 95 in this case) pikmin. It's just safer that way. Also the purple grubs hurt you the white grubs can't

when you get every pikmin is this game, and at least 20 of each type, have 20 pikmin of each or the five types in your squad and listen to what happens

I think I know why time doesn't progress in the dungeons. Besides the fact that day to night doesn't affect the underground and it would kind of suck to come out at night time (and to be honest the computer could just tell you when its safe to come out) it's also so you can't cheese the game by letting the special pikmin sit in the ground and become flowers. You have to use the nectar to beef them up

Oh, you're right! I see how I got them mixed up. It's a similar motif! I guess it's like they sing the ominous Luigi's Mansion theme because they're scared, but when you have 20 of each color, then they aren't scared, so they sing the cheerier Pikmin theme!
