"He was walking a tightrope the whole time, with a hundred stupid children following him." This run had some god-tier commentary

I love how the plot of pikmin games is that, in exchange for helping the astronaut on their mission, you make pikmin the apex predator of the planet.

Huh, never thought of it like that

I see it as constantly saving them from extinction

@@literaryloser4470I know this comment is two year old but yeah! It’s weird how with every game where you leave the Pikmin go from having large numbers to relatively small numbers. In the original they seem to be on the cusp of extinction unable to fight predators. In the first games good ending they learn to fight enemies but then in the second game when Olimar returns we see that while they can now fight on their own their numbers are now back down drastically. And I’m the third game you have to go about rescuing the onions all over again! It’s weird how we never find the Pikmin in a better state, it’s like they are worker bees without a leader, sorta like a hive mind with no brain until one of the captain leaders comes along. Strange that their weakness has never been explored, maybe in the fourth game hopefully 🤷♀️

Such a calm game... Was one of the first I had for the Gamecube. Played it from start to finish in one day, not knowing nothing, without a Memory Card. Damn was that a busy saturday.

Ah yeah, back in that weird period in gaming where you had to have a memory card to save anything. When I was a kid I thought games had changed for good and that memory cards were the future, good thing I was wrong!

I remember being 12 or 13 years old thinking I was hot shit because I could 100% this game in 12 days. I never would've thought that it would be possible to cut the days down in half outside of a TAS, much less a human pulling it off in a marathon setting.

Man, this run was really impressive! For context, WR is 49:49, Mokaygee's best run is 54:31 and this run would be fifth on the speedrun.com leaderboards (right behind Iid01 with 55:55, right in front of Noamoa with 58:32.)

it's incredibly stressful. definitely one of the most stress inducing speed games I've ran. don't go into it expecting to play like him, because there's a huge learning curve of just learning all the basic and complex pikmin peculiarities.

I always found this game to be quite challenging for me. But i loved it all the same. I think the first time i defeated the final boss in this game the in game day clock was on day 24. Not knowing much about this game in the early 00's i just the played the game at my own pace and generally had fun. When Pikmin 2 came out a few years later i found that a lot of the problems i had with the first game had been fixed. The difficulty setting had definitely been toned down alot, and having 2 captains to control, made multi tasking so much more easier, making for a more casual experience. This is why, even today i would consider Pikmin 2 the best game of the trilogy. (i played pikmin 3 through a few times and while i did enjoy the game, it still wasn't as good as 2)
