Here’s my mini review of three Taurus models from three big European brands, let me know in the comments if you agree or disagree! I’ll fit sound to these and make a follow up video based on the ease of sound fitting and the running.

This is a good comparison between the three similar models. I have a DB BR 182 from Piko, essentially the same thing as your Piko OBB version. I agree with you that based on price alone, the Piko one wins, but some of the detail is basic, as is the lighting. mine is fitted with a Lenz Standard+ decoder, and runs absolutely silently. All wheels are driven, there are no traction tyres (an annoyance from some manufacturers), and the weight is really good, so it will haul anything I care to hang behind the couplings. My European modelling tends to be a low budget offshoot from my British modelling, so the Piko Hobby locos like this one fill the niche nicely. Even not having tail lights is an advantage for me as mine will only be used hauling trains, not propelling them. Your requirements will be different, with both the RailJet and the Airport train sets being push-pull sets, so separately switchable tail lights would be desirable then.

Out of the three locos I've got the Roco, AC factory sound fitted. Sadly it's only driven on three axles, but aside from that, it's a spectacular runner. The speakers sound rather good and are quite effective, whilst the capacitors will allow the loco to run without issues over track that wasn't cleaned in months. It'll keep going for several seconds, and thus is an incredibly smooth runner no matter the state of your tracks.

Most of mine are Roco and I can’t fault them Richard. But I do have a Piko BR220 ( 59706 ) in DB it’s moulded detail. But internals are plux 22 with controllable lights. It’s a nice loco for weathering and used for mixed traffic. Cost me £80 used. Only one I’ve got from them. But I’m tempted with an DR 118 next though.

Between the three Roco is probably the best. The piko is from the Hobby range which is their cheapest and most basic models. They also have an expert range which is more expensive but better quality, but not quite as good as Roco. Jagerndorfer are good models but in my opinion not as good as Roco. All three also produce models with sound but are considerably more expensive.
