The assistant and Deepika exchanged seats because usually in India drivers and helpers sit in front while owners sit on the back. Since Irfan here was not just a driver but the owner as well, he wanted some respect and thus hinted Deepika to sit next to him. Small things have been shown beautifully in this movie. Wanted to mention 2 things: 1) Piku came and sat in front because Irrfan was the owner of the taxi business. She understands that it would be awkward and derogatory if the helper sits beside him since Irrfan just wants some respect. If there was a normal taxi driver, she wouldn't have sat in front. 2) In the USA, carrying self defensive items like a knife is common I presume. In India, its the opposite, if you are going to be travelling for a long time and if someone would find a knife in the car, as passengers, it would just be uncomfortable and scary. That's why they didn't trust Irrfan until he himself threw the knife.

@@kartiksharma7674 the reason why drivers keep knife is not just to cut the fruits but for safety too as they have to drive in nights in different locations and there are cases of looting & theft. Everyone keeps something in car in one form or other.

Finallyyy. This is one of the most criminally underrated indie gems of bollywood. One of Deepika's best films till date. Piku's whole album is soo beautiful. Such a shame that audience slept on this masterpiece.

- If u watch Sardar Udham first, hard to believe the same director made this! - That actor playing property dealer guy wanting Amitabh Bachchan to sell his Kolkata home later directed Pink! Piku is his only film as an actor! - This film won Amitabh Bachchan his 4th National Award (Academy Awards of India)! - Amitabh Bachchan's character name is the same name from his first hit Anand (1971)!

The Editing is one of the main aspects of Shoojit's directing style. He does that on purpose to make you feel what the character is feeling. I also remember in Sardar Udham, a lot of critics pointed the movie to be long, but Shoojit did that purposely. Like, SPOILER, towards the beginning, Vicky had to do solo travel on snow, and Shoojit didn't cut that scene, he showed Vicky walking for a long time, and I felt exhausted and that was the Intent, to make the audience feel what the character is feeling.

I don't know how non-indians perceive this film, but as an indian and a bengali, who has a grandma exactly like piku's dad, and who had to nurse a sick and delirious old mom during covid, this film is SO personal to me. like my mom had the exact same problem of constipation, and my grandma is just as irritating and even older than piku's dad. this film put a smile on my face and also made me emotional. istg ive never related more to a film. the roadtrips, the singing in the car, the bantering, everything feels very personal to me. 10/10 film for me

Same pinch brother 🥺 I'm also going through the same situation which Deepika shown in this film. My father got paralyzed in 2020, it's been 4 years me and my mother are just experiencing some unexpected twists and turns due to his illness...he's unable to do anything like walking which is resulting in improper digestion and due to stroke in mind 64 year old my father has changed into a 2 year old kid whose childish behaviour is now becoming my habit ❤

One of the main attributes of both AB and Deepika's characters is that they both are people with highly negative attitudes,, as shown how AB gets worried so easily even if he has a slight fever or how Deepika is constantly irritated and tensed, that's why when they see that Irfan whom they don't know well has a knife both their minds imagine the worst possible scenarios like what if he tries to hurt us or rob us with it? That's why they're asking him to throw it away.

I know the charecters seem extreme with constipation and health issues.. but i know people like that.. my mother is a hypochondriac like that.. i feel for piku.. i can understand how she grows to be irritated and frustrated all the time.. its hard to deal with hypochondriac people.

Indians in general are very particular not to carry arms (knives and swords etc) our gun control laws are very strict. We believe that even if you carry arms and firearms the same can well be used against you. That's why the apprehension regarding that knife. This apprehension is shared by generations. The cab drivers understand the practical use of it but Bhaskor feels it is is excessive and wrong.

Actually she came to the front seat because when she sits behind, she makes the driver run the car fast as she usually does and gets the vehicle hit. So, Irfan gives a look to her and she understood why. Also, their driver ran away which was mentioned in the conversation between the father and some lady near the gate. She doesn't drive, so she hires that car service. And if she goes in a rickshaw, she gets late.

I'm not sure about Jaby, but Syntell is spot-on with his comparisons about the distance. Looks like he's done a lot of driving. FYI, I checked the distance from Delhi to Kolkata - 1560 km, and Denver to Tennessee - 1646 km. Quite accurate!

The first line you said, " I will piku u in the face! " Piku is like a verb which means "hitting" In Telugu. So that line actually exists when we speak in a mix of telugu and english for fun! We say that! So u basically said " you will hit us" 🤣😝
