I would have kept the 3 large mother plants together, I love how full and lush they look together. I have a mother plant with 5 off shoots all just as big as the original plant, I don't think I will separate them.

A metal chopstick works beautifully for loosening roots and separating rhizomes. I've always used a polished wooden one, but eventually it will start to fray, then I ordered some orchid bark from Bonsai Jack and in the order they included a metal chopstick! Awesome!

HELLLP!! I've been struggling with my Pilea. At first it got root rot and most of the roots fell off, so someone recommended to put it in plain water, so I put it in a clear glass jar until it started to root and that helped for a while. The roots were coming back nicely until I let it sit in the water for too long and then all of a sudden the roots died off again. So now I've been keeping up with changing the water regularly but the Pilea isn't doing anything. It's just sitting in the water surviving with only a few roots. The lighting is pretty good, I have it like 6-8 feet from a SE facing window, so bright, indirect light. I read somewhere but never confirmed it to try to keep the root from getting intense light, so I wrapped some black tape around it and let's see what happens. My next step is to try repotting into some fresh soil and hope that it gets motivated to grow roots again. I don't want it to die, it's a tri-Pilea mother plant like Jolene's. ANY suggestions from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! End essay.

Thanks for this - I have some pancake babies I was just about to re-pot and I’ve never done it before so this was very helpful! Anyone have any advice on black spots on my pilea? It just started on the lowest leaves after 2 years of good plant health. No changes to watering or light. I’ve read that it’s either mold, fungus or bacterial infection but I can’t figure out which and I assume treatment varies. They’re big black spots, no yellow halo; the damaged leaves are yellowing and falling off. I’ve removed any remaining affected leaves and moved the plant away from others FYI (but it was so close to a bunch of prayer plants & succulents that I’m worried it may have spread before I noticed :-( Any tips would be greatly appreciated since I’m not finding pertinent videos when I search (and although I love my indoor jungle, I’m actually a pretty terrible plant mom - just don’t have the knack 😬 🍃💀)

Persephomes pomegranate did you find out the black spots in your pilea? Yesterday I found some black spots on mine and I went to the nursery where I bought it but as usual nobody knows anything this days they told me maybe too much water or fungus. As you I can't find any information.

I would love to know what your care tips are for this plant. I can't figure this plant out. Mine has been limping along for months. So much so, I cut the stem off at the base and attempted to grow a new, stronger plant. I put it in a tall terrarium to encourage faster roots. It started pushing new growth so after a couple of months, I added it back to the shelf with my other plants but it's still failing to thrive. :-(

sounds like they are being over watering or under watering. Before watering them, check the soil about an inch deep with your finger. If it's moist, don't water and wait. Don't go by the look of the top soil, it's misleading.
