Brought in after being hit by a car-Released eight weeks later

Poor sweetheart. I’m glad you took care of it and released it. Pileated are such gorgeous birds. It’s just breathtaking when you see the brilliant flash of red of one when you’re in a wooded area!

I found an owl that was in the same state of stupor. After it snapped back to reality it did not like being in my house. Of course I let it out

I live in Frederick Md and I have these coming to my feeders and since they had babies they come to my feeders 3or 4 times a day now.Great job!

Whenever a bird is hit by a car or something, they are usually out of hit. My dad hit a pigeon once, and he was just walking around in the road. I didnt want him smooshed, so I petted him for a little while and blocked some cars until he flew off.

How did it taste? Do you recommend the oven, a pan or better a grill for preparation? Just joking. A really cute Woodpecker. It was lucky to get saved and didn't end up under a car.

Thank you for this post. Birds do get "loopy" sometimes when they are hit by a vehicle or hit a window. I have temporarily cared for many birds while they recover and then released them. Most recently a Yellow-rumped Warbler that a window at my house. If you had to care for this Pileated for 8 weeks then I suspect something more was wrong.

Oh my gosh it's so beautiful! Not like the woodpeckers here in the uk, all we've got that is close to looking like that one is our greater and lesser spotted woodpeckers :) still wish I could do stuff like you, I love animals enough as it is!
