Glad you did not give in to the discrimination of "Filipino English" that is frequently discussed within Koreans. Actually, once you learn english it's easy to fake accent and even I, a Filipino can easily turn my accent to american accent if needed. Ang importante is you learn the grammar and how to be conversational. Ayus!

Graduate student naman ako dito sa Korea and it took me a long time to adjust to the culture. Learning a language is challenging talaga. I know how you feel hana about school. It can be an intimidating place specially if you are not used to it because just by watching this video i felt discomfort in some way it throws me back to when I was still studying. USeP Davao Alumni here! I used to have a college classmate that doesn't know how to speak Bisaya, she eventually learned it as we keep teaching her words that she doesn't understand. Don't worry you'll eventually learn it as you socialize with locals. Do ask your friends if there's a word that you don't understand.

Adjusting to a new environment is really hard for the first time. I know that feeling. Let me share my story....I'm born and raised here in the Philippines at taga Mindanao rin ako pero I was not able to learn bisaya until I was 7 yrs. old since English ang first language na natutunan ko. I was even teased by my playmates kasi hindi ako marunong mag bisaya. But I naturally learned both bisaya and Filipino. I didn't exactly know how I got it both but maybe it has to do with interactions with my friends and classmates sa school and Filipino is also one of the subjects being taught here. Thankfully, I can now speak and understand English, Filipino and bisaya fluently. Right now I'm still struggling in learning the Korean language but I'm hopeful that I can also be fluent in the future. If you don't understand something, please don't hesitate to ask your friends and classmates. I'm so sure they are willing to help you. Hana fighting! 🥰

indeed, it's really hard to graduate in PH (and your one way ticket to graduating a.k.a. the thesis was traumatizing for most) but all your hardships will be worth it i promise! just dont let your self be drowned in pressure or stress, learn to take a break... your brain needs to rest from time to time. good luck!!!!!! you can do it

Congrats Hana! College student ka na. Just keep studying at ifamiliarize ang mga quizzes kasi ang mga quizzes ay maging mga exam gaya ng mid-term at final exams pag sinama sama. Ang mga quizzes ay parang focused topics nga mga tests at pag pinagsama sama mo ay magkaroon ka na whole knowledge ng subject. Itago mo lagi at ireview lagi ang mga quizzes mo

One peace of advice from a kuya. Don't think too much about it. Don't stress yourself learning bisaya. The advantage about studying in the Philippines is learning curve is quite short for learning local dialects because almost everybody speaks english and Tagalog no matter where you are in the country. And just chill about the thesis. It will only get harder than it actually is if you think negatively about it too much. Chill and go with the flow.

You can do it, girl! You're definitely going to graduate and finish that course you're not confident in. Mind you, I also took a course I'm not confident with because I'm not the one who chose it from the very beginning but look at me now gagraduate na ako next month 🥰. My advice to you is, ust surround yourself with good and understanding friends. I survived college because of my friends. They help me every time I reach for their help and they're always by my side when I need one (and vice versa). In college, you should help each other pataas, sabay sabay kayo sa pag aim na maka survive sa course tinake nyo, walang iwanan ganern. Pag may naiwan try nyo pa rin tulungan. Fighting bbgirl!

Hi Ga! (That's what they call UM students 😊). I'm an alumna from UM. I hope you enjoy your time studying. Make the most out of it especially sa mga curricular activities din. Medyo rigid and fast paced academically pero kaya yan. In terms of the language, marami namang "Konyo/Conyo" (Tagalog-Bisaya) sa Davao. You can easily adapt to that naman.

"let's meet on monday", "Hang with me on tuesday", pero kapag wala ka binanggit na specific day, ganito mangyayari ex. " In three days" kapag months, years, decades, centuries, and even millenium "In" na ang ginagamit para diyan. Kapag sa mga bagay isipin mo lang ang "ElectrONics" at "PrINts" For ON Ex. "I watched anime on TV" diba On ang ginamit kasi ang TV is an electronic type of technology. For In (Isipin mo ang PrINts) kapag mga brochures, magazines and other printed materials "In" ang gagamitin mo diyan

Kayang kaya mo yan Teacher Hana. Friendly naman kaming mga Pinoy lalo na madali lang kaming pakisamahan kapag sa mga dayuhan na tulad mo. May kaklase nga kami na galing pang Baguio tapos nag-aral din sa jan sa paaralan mo ngayon pero hindi naman siya problema dahil madali naman kami nakapag-adjust lalo na sa Filipino subject Tagalog naman ang tinuturo. I was like you. Di rin ako nakakaintindi ng Bisaya before. But if willing ka matuto (like you will frequently ask the meaning of the words u hear and don't understand) u can catch up really fast. Now I speak fluent Bisaya after trying really hard to speak it. It will take time. FIGHTING!!

You're gonna turn out fine. I graduated years ago but I remember having a Korean blockmate when I was still a freshman. The girl can barely speak Filipino and English and was extremely shy too. I don't think she finished studying in our school. Maybe she went back to Korea. Wish I could've made her college life a bit easier but even I was struggling adapting to college life at the time. Most of us still had that high school brain at that point.

Naah, Pretty sure, you'll be fine. As long as you have friends, it'll get a lot easier to get used to things. around 3-6 months you will understand bisaya completely 6-12 months you will be fluent in speaking. Not that hard if you already know tagalog. Goodluck!

sa THESIS sa college, TALAGANG MADUGO YON. But not as tough as before. The best thing is to have all the information and how you have them and why. The good news is that editing and printing has gone easy. all you need to have is a reliable printer, lots of printing paper (kopon ban), and a reliavle thesis groupmates. You are blessed now compared to the old days. We have to pay a typist/encoder to type and print for us. and that cost a lot during those days. have a great day.

Go Hannah💪💪What yr are you by the way and your course? Wag ka mag alala normal yung ganung reaction na mahirap maka graduate rito but as long as you go with the flow, pass the projects etc on time, participating in class discussion and passing the term tests for sure makakapsa ka. Yang Thesis no need to worry about that kasi kahit pa naman di pa tapos thesis niyo makakagraduate ka pa rin yun nga lang before you get your TOR you have to finished the Thesis para maging satisfactorily completed na yung magiging remarks mo but again and again wag mo muna isipin yan wla ka pa naman siguro sa 4th yr. just enjoy the life of being a college student now😇😊

Bisaya is easy. You’ll learn it soon :) May mga koreano sa school ko dati na ang bilis matuto. As long as you keep trying, interacting and there is willingness to learn, you will learn it soon. One of my Korean classmate from college wasn’t able to learn it nung nag-aaral pa kami at sa tingin ko ang dahilan ay umiiwas siya sa amin, baka nahihiya o ewan ko. Good luck!

Im half Korean and I studied in the Philippines for 6 years. Im kinda fluent in tagalog but her accent is a LOT better than mine. Can someone explain to me how is her tagalog so good?

It's so good even the accent, and some expressions that are Tagalog in d millennial era. She knows many Filipino expressions that me and my friends don't know because we're in our 40's.

Heyyy I also studied there in UM! Don't worry I also didn't know how to speak Bisaya at first. I never planned to learn and I never asked people to teach me but guess what, I eventually knew how to speak it. I guess if you're really surrounded by people you will learn how to speak like them whether you like it or not haha! And yes, people are so friendly. They'd rather speak in English (or Bisaya of course) than Tagalog.

engineering graduate ako jan sa particular school and all I can say is 1st day of class may friends kana which is super good thing kasi investment yan para sa upcoming thesis and mock board exams (if meron). And no man is an island sa college kasi need nyo talaga sa isa't isa para gumraduate. kaya Goodluck sa college!
