Pillow Pad Fold Away review. Is it better than the original Pillow Pad? [342]

I’ve had an original Pillow Pad for my IPad Pro for at least 5 years…it’s awesome….still is in perfect condition….it puts my iPad at the perfect level to watch content like movies and KZbin videos….I barely feel the weight of it…no movable parts makes it less likely to break any time soon…the foldaway was tempting until I saw how shoddy the build is….it’s just a matter of time before the hinge becomes unhinged .. that is a deal breaker….great review as always…

I got the fold away, probably three years ago and I use it every day. I’m watching this video on it. It’s pretty much the only way I could watch my iPad and put it at different angles.

Thanks for the review. I was interested in buying one of these but I wasn't sure how sturdy it was or if the hinge that provides the angle would hold up. I have the old 3 sided pillow pad and was going to get this version for traveling since it was more compact. After watching your review I'm still not sure about getting one. Maybe I'll wait for the next version to see if they improve upon this version. I do like the idea of it being more compact but wish it had something that would give it more support when it's open.

Yesterday I bought this product thinking it would be great for the storage but I was a little wary as I wasn’t sure if my iPad Would comfortably sit on it because I have a cover for my iPad as I don’t want it to get damaged and yes it does sit on there but just manages to sit on there and when it comes to storage I couldn’t fit some of the stuff that I thought I might be able to fit in there. I do not know whether take it back and try something else, but we’ll see.

I also own both versions, along with other tablet holders. I too am worried about how long this foldaway version will last. I really like the multitude of angles it can be viewed while using. That's the main reason I bought it. My other tablet holders are quite a bit larger with ample room and storage areas. I use the large back pocket for headphones, charger, and writing pens, etc...the side pockets I use for quick access to my various styluses, they also have a carrying handle. Much more storage than the solid pillow pad. I switch my pillow tablet holders to suit my different needs lol. Thank you for the review as well as the vid for taking the foldaway apart. 🤞I'll keep my fingers crossed that this will hold up awhile.

@@MMM-h6q Out of the 2 types of Tablet holders, Pillow pad versus the Foldaway that's shown in this info video, so far the Foldaway is really super useful and actually exceeded my expectations! The hinge is just as good as when brand new. It will not close until you actually close it manually pushing the raised lipped holder side lowering the desired down toward the bottom side. If you want the Foldaway to be completely closed/shut all you do is press down until you hear the light clicking that it has locked/snapped closed. It only requires just a slight pressure that even someone on the frail and or elderly should be capable of. To open this Foldable, it can be easily accomplished with just one hand if need be.👏👌 This Foldable only comes in the shown color, a dark grey. Makes it much easier to look and keep clean. Another super useful, easy, and a huge PLUS ➕✅☑️⬆️, is the material used. It is very good at being able to keep your device in place without slipping and sliding due to Tablets and Phones slippery metal casings. The material is soft, not rough like denim, yet not super soft and plush, which is nice for blankets and sleeping pillows, but used for Tablet and or phone holders, that is not a desirable feature as it would cause items to sink in too deep, as well as slip all over the place, not steady enough to hold anything lol. I also really love how so far this is the only holder for my devices, that can actually be easily angled to just about any angle to suit your needs. Even during the span of an hour or so, I might want to raise or lower the angles depending on my sitting or reclining position. I first thought that $10 or $15 would be a better price, however I now think it is worth the $20 cost. I bought 3 more of these Foldables that my sister and 2 of my friends all wanted after seeing the many useful ways to be a great asset. One feature that should have been made more useful is the very thin so called "storage" area that is housed in the closed section of this Foldable.🤨🙄🕵️🆗➡️📧💌📨🆗< >🆘🛑▶️🚫📴📳📲< It okay for a few small envelopes, very slim small stylus, but much too small to hold any cords, chargers, etc. Hopefully if you already have or plan to get one, It is better designed and a huge useful asset for me.

I first came across your video while searching information on alien tape thanks for doing a thorough job. I don’t think I will be hanging my items with it . I have been using the pillow pad for years and I love it. I didn’t know that they had a new one. I thought it would be good because it was thinner. That is my only problem with the original for traveling purposes it is bulky. Thanks for showing us all the pros and cons. I think if I was to purchase on I might use it for traveling only. By the way is there anything out there that will hold things on walls without making holes?

Have you tried command hooks? I've had some success with them...that being said they do have a weight limit.

Love mine, but took foam out to wash cover, and it's very hard to put it back correctly. A real pain. I haven't figured it out yet. Someone needs to make a video about getting foam put back in the cover correctly.

It took me a while to get one but the best buy I have done in a long time. I am now in my sofa seat using the pillow pad and can’t emphasize enough how much more comfortable it feels to use the ipad with this. My hands used to hurt from holding the ipad especially after a day of work.

I like both for two reasons one you could take out for traveling one you can use at home the small one that folds down you can take that for traveling the one that has the case the other one you can use at home and not only that you can use the one with the case in the hospital if you're having to be in the hospital and still use the pillow one at home so there's a plus side to both

I have the original pillow pad. I absolutely hate it!!! My iPad keeps falling off. I’ve tried using all kinds of things like large elastic hair bands to hold it in place but that doesn’t work! The iPad still falls and the bands going across the screen are sooo annoying! I was hoping this would have something that holds the device on, won’t be buying anything like this again. I had a GoGo pillow from when they first came out and loved it but it’s worn out now and I’m trying to find something that’s similar to it, no luck so far😏

i use the original Pillow Pad to draw on my 16" Wacom tablet so it needs to be pretty sturdy which it is. I feel this one won't do any good for my needs, but if you just wanna watch movies and games then its a good deal.

Great review! I can only assume that you got the original pad before they decided to ruin them by tightly rolling them up and stuffing them into a little plastic bag. The instructions say to leave it alone for a few days to let the shape come back. If it doesn't work, they tell you to use a steamer to get the wrinkles out. Well, neither of these methods work. I emailed the company in Jersey and included photos. No response, naturally. It's on the way back to Amazon at the moment. Totally useless! I'll check around for the fold-away version if I can bear the thought of buying from that company again. Cheers!

If you are traveling you don't want to take the pillow one with you so you can always take the other one with you when you're traveling and leave the pillow one at home

This one kind weird I like it and use it often but it has many drawbacks... Build is just kinda trash... It only goes to around 90 degrees and when you get close to 80 ish the thing wants to fall over because there is no weight on the other side....... made some improvements to mine to fix some of this issues... But I wish someone else world make this item but a more premium version.. because this looks like they spend like 3$ to make... And I know it's cheap but only like 14$ but I'd pay more for a better built unit...
