It is quite surprising, when one think that Doris Day, the prominent figure of the 1960’s landed several number one musical hits before the international fame came with her role in romantic-comedies (famously at the side of Rock Hudson). “Pillow Talk” (1959) was the one that started it all. The music for the picture was provided by Frank De Vol, who brought those movies the finishing touch: Emotion, fun, light-action and colorful orchestrations. The part-time actor did a great job. Fun fact: The music you hear was taken from sources that were in fact given from director Michael Gordon to Rock Hudson as a birthday gift. Enjoy!

@Corno di Bassetto You are totally right. Excuse the fauxpas. And thank you for the well written comment about the Herrmann-case. :-) Best to you! Fred

At long last, I found and bought the piano sheet music too "I need no atmosphere." Very fun to play. I made up my own baseline! Great, jazzy chord changes. I don't know why it wasn't a bigger hit.

Great to see/hear. Without realising, from when I was little I grew up with one of his scores through many viewings of Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo and then, at some point, came Dirty Dozen (in my viewings by my teenage years). True measure of a great composer is how he can do different types be it Disney or WWII flicks. DeVol might not be a Williams/Horner/Goldsmith et al but what I've heard of his scores (such as Flight of the Phoenix) makes me a fan.

Die fünfziger Jahre waren vielleicht die beste Epoche der US-amerikanischen Filme. Dieses erfreuliche Werk ist ein gutes Beispiel davon.

I finally found it! The rare Perry Blackwell song "I Need No Atmosphere"! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR UPLOADING IT! It's crazy that we can't buy the song in the US and this CD set is impossible to find and expensive. Could you also upload "You Lied" by Perry Blackwell? I really love Perry's vocals but these songs were never put out on vinyl and people in the US can't purchase digital copies for some reason. :(

Hello Heather and thank you for your message! It very unfortunate that De Vol's music recordings just found their way to be released in 1996 by that German label. Don't get me wrong, they did great but there is just little chance that people outside of the soundtrack world (in Germany) could have noticed that release. We only do upload music suites here and never songs 1:1, due to problems with copyright infringement. Anyway, you might write me an email: soundtrackfred@gmail.com and I could do something about your two beloved tracks! :-) Best!
