I own this pen. It's one of my favorite daily carry items.

Does the Fermo not come with the sheath to protect the cartridge from wear and tear?
@ForTheLoveOfPens5 ай бұрын
It does, I forgot to mention that. Personally I don’t like to use it as it prevents you from seeing the ink level. It I start noticing damage I’ll just replace the cartridge.

@@ForTheLoveOfPens I have a VP and a Decimo. I'd probably be too nervous about inkcidents without the protector.
@ForTheLoveOfPens5 ай бұрын
@@yuklimka7251 that’s fair. I’ve used the VP for about half a year without a sleeve and haven’t seen any damage. But I could imagine over years it may start to show some cracking.

I have all of those pens except the fermo and my e95s is all black. I would buy a copper colored clip for the kaweco, not the brass colored clip and I think you would really like the subtle difference in color

Thanks, I've been considering it! But am a little weary because of how easily it came off of the plastic version.
@XtianApi5 ай бұрын
@@ForTheLoveOfPensyeah makes sense. I do find it more grippy on the metal pens and also sliding it off and giving it a little pinch inwards can certainly help

I like the design of the Fermo BUT the clip location keeps me from considering it as it does not confirm to my grip. If they put a roll stop in lieu of the clip as an option, it would be much better.
@ForTheLoveOfPens5 ай бұрын
I think a lot of people feel that way. The Moonman A1 is probably the closest thing without a clip. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKirdWRueNOnq6s

@@ForTheLoveOfPens I think the A3 has the removable clip. Also, the Platinum version is another alternative though it is a bit chunky.
@ForTheLoveOfPens5 ай бұрын
@@paulmchugh1430 yes the A3 and curidas also have removable clips. To me the A1 is more similar, but those are definitely options too.

It’s available for as low as $115 on Amazon, so I’m not sure if it can be considered an upgrade to VP. I had bought it, but there was a delivery issue and Amazon refunded it. Also, I wish there had been a gold trim version !
@ForTheLoveOfPens5 ай бұрын
The MSRP is quite a bit more than the VP, but I also found it for less than I paid for my VP. I agree, I wish there were more color and trim options!

Always liked the Fermo...but the VP is my preferred choice for on-the-fly note-taking. Given the need for both hands to deploy the nib on the Fermo, I could just as well whip out one of my Custom 823s!
@ForTheLoveOfPens5 ай бұрын
@@barrettwbenton The VP is quicker on the draw :). But at the same time I do think the Fermo has an edge on not accidently opening when being put in a pocket/pouch
@barrettwbenton5 ай бұрын
@fortheloveofpens True. Hasn't happened to me, but it's one reason none of my FPs get put in a pants pocket - too many potentially bad things can happen there. (And, since I now officially hate ballpoint pens, this was an issue up till recently; a pair of Retro 51 rollers have solved this handily.)
@ForTheLoveOfPens5 ай бұрын
@@barrettwbenton I have the same fear, but also haven't had any major incidents (yet). Probably the worst of it has been my Lamy 2K uncapping with ink on the section after being jostled around on a road trip.

The original Capless was similar to this design. It was not a clicky

You're right, I show that at 00:28. I'm not entirely sure why Pilot changed to the knocking mechanism in 1964.
