I am not aware of the furor over the owner of the company. I am much more interested in his work with his inks and his pens. As for the pen, it is a remarkable pen. While I have been interested in a triple tine nib, i think i will pass on this one. Personally it writes broader than i like. I do loke hos pens overall. They are made to be modified, especially the nib. You can eyedropper fill the barrel, if I remember correctly. I had an Ahab at one point and ruined the pen and nib. But i have been thinking about getting another model. Also I don't have any of the inks. I should look at getting some. Why didn't you use a Noodler's ink for your writing?

Thank you for this review and having courage to even do it. I love Noodler's and Nathan Tardiff. As you know the small percentage of the population got upset with him for his freedom of speech and label choices and cancelled him a few years ago. He has only put out a few pens and limited inks since then. They ruined a man that did a lot for the pen community by the way of cost, function, innovation, uniqueness, etc. The sad part is it was started by his friend Brian Goulet who called him things that are not true and should have known better. I'm sure Nathan had plans to make improvements to this pen and others but why, when you are now viewed as a monster? I stand with Nathan and his freedom of speech and being a patriot of this country!
@fortheloveofpens
@fortheloveofpens 10 күн бұрын
I didn’t make this as a political statement, but as a review of a fine writing instrument. Personally I think Nathan made a mistake and owned up to it with his public apology, recall and donation. I don’t fully support cancel culture. While there are many people whose words/actions show a lack of compassion, ownership and making reprimands shows growth and should be celebrated. If we aren’t willing to forgive, we too are at fault.

@fortheloveofpens
@fortheloveofpens 10 күн бұрын
Likely what’s going on is called elastic deformation. The nib’s material has a memory and eventually wants to return to the original state. If the tines still look aligned and the flow is ok, I would just focus on polishing the tipping material. That will be a more permanent fix.

@@stathkon if you tune it according to how I show, I wouldn’t say that’s normal. I think a few things could be happening. You could be writing with a heavy hand, forcing the tines to spread. Very neat and well done review of this lovely pen. It’s such a sweet bonus to have the PCH 912 offered with the full spectrum of Pilot’s nib size options. I thought hard before choosing the Waverly (WA) when buying this pen. I’m mighty glad I did, because it’s such a swell writer. I don’t mind the lack of color options for the 912. It is more than compensated by the nib options instead. The other Pilots I own and love best are the Justus 95 (M) Falcon (SM), a pair of The E95s (both M), a Silvern Tsumugi (M), PC 845 (B), PC Urushi (M). That said, I’d say I like my fleet of Sailor pens a little more.

@@fortheloveofpens For the record, I’ve for long loved Italian pens the most, and my nib preferences lean toward European broads, stubs, italics. But I have several very good F and M nibs, too. And custom grinds and special nibs from the manufacturer, as well. They all have their place in my writing arsenal. I chose the Waverly for my 912 because the slight but distinct upturn to the nib intrigued me. It reminded me of the beautiful, very smooth ‘Waverley’ nibs in some vintage Sheaffers. I own two such pens myself. Then, I read a few reviews of Pilot’s WA and felt it was a safe bet to buy. The nib is just a very unfussy, flawless, and sublimely smooth, reliable and pleasurable writer at all writing angles. So, it is a very forgiving nib. The FA seemed to be very polarising going by the user reviews I read and heard online - and the PO seemed to be too fine for me. The PO requires a more upright writing angle. The WA is equally good at all angles of attack, and for both right and left handed writers. Good that Pilot doesn’t charge extra for these special nibs. Re: Sailor, I much prefer their 21k nibs to the 14k, though both are great. I own six regular sized PGs, one 1911L (w/naginata togi nib), a 1911 Realo (H-B), three KoPs. I definitely love my KoPs best. That large 21k nib on the KoP is just sublime and truly one of a kind. I’d go so far as to say that the nib alone justifies the steep price of the pen. My favorites among the Sailor nibs are the M, B, Music and Cobra. If pressed to pick just one, I reckon for practical, daily use, the broad is the best, H-B or just B. Sailor simply rules! 👌🙂
