I love my Pilot Parallel 2.4 mm. Bought it as a tool for using up my ink more quickly, but I've come to realize that enjoy learning calligraphy, so I'm planning to get another one (3.8 mm) soon. It works reasonably well with most inks too.

If you want to go through ink, the parallel pens will certainly help you do that.

1. I draw with these things all the time, to get a nice, even, crisp, wide line. I struggle a little with the 6.0, which is hard to keep flush with the paper, but the rest are fine. 2. Note that if you hate the pen body, you can screw out the nib unit, which will fit in various other normal design pens, the cheapest being the Pilot Spare Sign Pen. 3. There is a Chinese knock-off of this pen, that comes in sizes all the way up to 11mm, which I am anxious to try soon. On Etsy.

Thanks for the comment. I may have to experiment with fitting the nib to a different pen. I wouldn't mind a more normal pen body.

Love these pens. Did you know that you can cut the pen at the ring towards the back to allow it to post? Once you do post it for the first time the inside of the cap has a plastic piece that sticks into the back of the pen that you cut off. This turns into a finial for the barrel.

Good to know! I love that there are so many hacks for these pens.

Hi I was curious if you have ever used the parallels as a dip pen with India inks . And you experience si you had with cleaning consistent flow, kinks in the ink(ink blobs)?

Foutain pens dont like stickier inks

It is not something I have tried. Pilot does supply a cleaning tool with the Parallel pens so it might be worth the risk. Obviously do not run India ink through the feed as that will clog the pen.
