Thanks! Many years ago I used compete in IMAC/freestyle and fly pretty often, so that definitely helped. These days I don't have much time to go to the field, but I guess muscle memory still keeps me going for a bit :-)

Hi Juan, great flight, great looking plane! I am doing my due diligence and research, and I am about ready to place an order for this plane. Looking at the AM 670 combo you linked, it gives two options. 480KV and 520KV. I was wondering if you could tell me what KV motor you went with on the AM 670 combo, and why? What benefits or drawbacks would there be with a higher or lower KV motor in this case, for this size plane? Thanks for any info, Juan! I appreciate your time!

Thank you! Motor was originally in the Extreme Flight Extra 260 RXR version which comes with the AM670 combo. I sold it and move the gear to this PilotRC Extra. My understanding is the combo that EF sells comes with the 520KV. I think it's a bit more expensive, more powerful and consumes more battery than the 480KV (extremeflightrc.com/assets/images/161676511233169002.jpg).

What battery size do you use? Currently I have 4500mah which need to be in the nose, flight times are a bit short. Nice flying :)

Hey Juan! Nice flight! you still kept the same expo configuration you mentioned during thw build video? Ele 80%, Ail 68% and Rudder 60%? Thank you for sharing

thanks! The expos I mentioned in the build video were the ones I've been using so far. Keep in mind two things though: 1.- I used the same throws and similar expos to what I used in my EF 67" Extra 260 when I tried it with FrSky. Note that each radio brand seems to have a slightly different expo curve, so 50% expo in Spektrum isn't the same as 50% expo in FrSky. When I switched the EF Extra to Frsky I had to increase the Expos by about 15% to get a similar feel. So what used to be 55% in aileron and 65% in elevator in Spektrum became 68% in aileron and 80% in FrSky. 2.- I've only done 3 flights on this plane so far, so I might end up making some adjustments in the future. Having said that, I felt like the feel was very similar to what I'm used to, so I'm not expecting major changes. I hope that helps

it does really help! thank you for taking the time to answer. I'm flying with a Core radio and Switched from JR, same thing as you described, I had to increase expos to ge the same feel. Thank you again, and continue with the great content

Awesome flight man.. really impressive. actually I was thinking of putting together such a plane, Im glad I see it before I try.. so my question is what battery pack did you fly it with and how many minutes you got and what was the pack % left when you landed? thanks.

thank you! I've been using SMC LiHV 6200mAh packs. I fly 6.5 minutes and have about 30% left

You are exactly right. I bought one of these too and was disappointed in the quality and the weight. My Extreme flight, Omp and Aj Aircraft are nicer. I still like the pilot but it's not what I expected.

I only have 3 flights on this plane so far, so it's early for me to have a solid opinion on how they compare. From my little time with it, I haven't noticed major differences. The main things I've noticed so far: - Pilot NG feels more stable during high speed flying/precision aerobatics. - EF 260 has more aileron authority for rifle rolls. I'm planning to seal the hinge line in the Pilot NG ailerons and I think that should give it a bit of extra aileron authority. Will see

Thinking about getting the Laser 67" because of this. The Extra 67" Pilot seems to behave better at high speeds.
