This beast is one of very few planes that can use its reverse thrusters to do a full pushback without any assistance. Love, love the 737-200!

Not entirely correct. First of all, the pushback that the aircraft performs on its own is called a powerback. Nearly every plane can do a powerback but most of them don't do it for safety reasons. A powerback on propeller-driven aircraft isn't too unusual. Aircraft with jet engines doing a powerback are rare (B727, DC9, MD80, Fokker 100, C17,...) and most of them have high-mounted engines. Only the 737-100 and 200 have low-mounted jet engines and can do safely a powerback. So this beast is one of very few low-mounted jet engine driven aircraft which can do a powerback without any danger to aircraft and ground crew. If the aforementioned aircraft do a powerback depends on the airlines and airports procedures.
@SYDAirlineEnthusiast3 жыл бұрын
The 717 can also do it, and airlines like delta, hawaiian, and qantaslink still use it. However, it is unsafe to do that, and any airliner can do a powerback. Even the new 737-max.

AlaskaAirlines 17 if you mean it’s good because it’s rare then... you are right
@rshvkkt914 жыл бұрын
@@minerplayz9842 because they are the DC-3s of the jet age. Old but tough as nails and extremely reliable. Pilots love them because they are old school and demand good handflying skills to operate. Automation is rudimentary compared to the modern glass cockpit 737s and no autothrottles. The only replacement for a 737-200 is indeed another 737-200!
