Love your teaching style Mischa. Very relaxed, encouraging and informative without overloading your students. Great video, thanks for producing the series and the effort you must be putting in on that. My weekly flying videos take me all week to get sorted and nowhere near as complex as yours. All the best Tim 👍 🇬🇧

Terrific video.. Im so glad you started this style of video training please continue with the great content. The length of the videos are very good... not to short that you miss the instruction being delivered. The whole idea of flying with the same student is OK OK OK by me. Thanks to Sam for letting us live through all his ups and downs... keep up the good work Sam ...BLADE SLAP..

I don't know how hard it would be to do this... Would it be possible to see a closeup of the instrument stack and insert this in the top of the screen when you're on the 'over-the-shoulder" shot? This would help in understanding all the references you make to the gauges while instructing.

All right I was wondering if there's any kind of a helicopter flight simulation that you can do on the computer or on your phone or anything like that that's as close to real as you can get? Also just in my opinion I like the the detailed on all of the moves to make with your landing and taking off that's awesome really enjoy your channel man love to take lessons sometime. I just don't know if I can afford them what do they cost by the way?

Dude, I'm almost starting to wonder if there was something wrong with the Cabri I flew a while back: we were in a ~15kt wind with two guys (me ~160lbs and a CFI who looked to be about the same weight) with approx 1:20 worth of fuel on board and I was seeing ~90-95% power utilization to hover over concrete. This was at sea level on an average California afternoon (probably low to mid 20's C... maybe 30?). How are you guys hovering at 70-80%? The one I flew just felt like it was struggggling the whole time and wasn't happy cruising at anything over about 80kts. The CFI I flew with told me, "You have to be really careful going into confined areas with students, even down at 1-2k feet MSL, or you might not have the performance to get out." Then I see you guys landing the things at 6k MSL. What's the deal? Are you guys both really light? Or is it just really cold up there?
@jarrettmatheson145
@jarrettmatheson145 6 жыл бұрын
It could be because the Cabri you flew in doesn't have the power upgrade. The Cabri originally started out with 145 horsepower but the newer Cabri like in this video are upgraded to 160 horsepower.
@ganthrithor
@ganthrithor 6 жыл бұрын
Hmm, possibly. I can't remember how long ago this was... maybe a year? Is it just a software update? Fifteen horsepower should be pretty noticeable. I'd go fly another one, but the only Cabri operator near me just wrecked theirs :\
@jarrettmatheson145
@jarrettmatheson145 6 жыл бұрын
@@ganthrithor I think Mischa said in a video once that it's just a software upgrade but I don't know if these guys first Cabri has the upgrade or not.

Too high or too low too fast or too slow - I think this is a good mental bridge to remember when trying to land. Why do you call it "shoot an approach." I do get a lot from this approach in teaching. Any other good phrases to remember ?

When I was a young kid I worked for Lufthansa as a flight attendant. 50 years later I‘m a retired oral surgeon, still thrilled by all things airborne, especially helis. First of all your videos are absolutely fantastic! You are lucky with the mountain landscape you can enjoy with every flight. But you also have a way with your students that is fun to watch. Strict, precise but cordial. But now a question that has come up quite often lately when I watch cockpit videos on KZbin: why is ATC-communication still as crappy as it was 50 years ago? With a 50 $ mobile phone I can speak with Ouagadugu Africa clear, without distortion or all sorts of noise. And that is for telling somebody the most unnecessary info like what cereal I just have for breakfast. So: why is ATC still on a totally unacceptable stone age radio system? You should not have to take a special course to be able to guess what a controller wants you to do next!

Fish most people start in the same place you are. If your dream and passion are big enough then begin to structure a plan of how to make it happen and work your butt off to get there. That’s how these students are doing it.
